Maintenance
1. Cleaning Your Laptop
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water or a screen cleaner to clean the display.
- For the keyboard and chassis, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Regularly clean dust from vents to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.
2. Battery Care
- To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- Store the laptop in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is charged to about 50%.
3. Software Updates
Regularly check for and install Windows updates to ensure your system has the latest security patches and performance improvements. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Troubleshooting
1. Slow Performance
- Check for background applications: Close unnecessary programs running in the background.
- Disk space: Ensure you have sufficient free space on your eMMC drive. Move large files to the SD card or cloud storage.
- Windows S Mode: If you are experiencing slow performance with specific applications, consider if they are optimized for S Mode. Switching out of S Mode (see Setup section) might allow for broader software compatibility, but also introduces potential security considerations.
- Updates: Ensure Windows and all drivers are up to date.
2. Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues
- Restart router/modem: Power cycle your network equipment.
- Check Wi-Fi settings: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your laptop and you are connected to the correct network.
- Driver updates: Update your wireless adapter drivers through Device Manager.
3. Display Problems
- Brightness settings: Adjust screen brightness using keyboard shortcuts or display settings.
- External display: If using an external monitor, ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected and the correct display output is selected (Fn + F4 or Windows key + P).
