5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Basic Vacuum Sealing
Follow these steps for standard vacuum sealing of dry foods:
- Prepare the Bag: Cut a piece of vacuum film from the roll, ensuring it is long enough to accommodate the food plus an extra 5-10 cm for sealing. Seal one end of the bag using the "Seal" function if it's an open roll.
- Place Food: Place the food item inside the bag. Ensure the open end of the bag is clean and dry, free from food particles or moisture, as this can affect the seal.
- Position the Bag: Open the lid of the vacuum sealer. Place the open end of the bag into the vacuum chamber, ensuring it lies flat across the sealing bar. Close the lid firmly until it clicks into place.
- Start Vacuuming: Press the "Vacuum & Seal" button. The appliance will automatically remove air from the bag and then seal it.
- Release and Remove: Once the process is complete, the indicator light will turn off. Press the release buttons (usually on the sides) to open the lid and remove the sealed bag.

5.2. "Wet and Dry" Function
The "Wet and Dry" function allows for optimal sealing of foods with varying moisture content.
- Dry Mode: For dry foods like nuts, grains, or dried fruits. This is the default setting.
- Wet Mode: For moist foods such as fresh meat, fish, or marinated items. Select the "Wet" function on the control panel before starting the vacuum and seal process. This setting adjusts the vacuum pressure and sealing time to ensure a secure seal despite moisture.

5.3. "Soft" Function for Delicate Foods
For delicate or fragile foods that could be crushed by full vacuum pressure (e.g., bread, pastries, soft fruits), use the "Soft" function.
- Place the delicate food in the bag and position it in the vacuum chamber.
- Select the "Soft" function on the control panel.
- Press the "Vacuum & Seal" button. The appliance will apply a gentler vacuum before sealing.
5.4. Sous-Vide Preparation
The Silvercrest Vacuum Sealer is ideal for preparing food for Sous-Vide cooking. Vacuum sealing removes air, allowing for efficient heat transfer and consistent cooking results in a water bath.
- Prepare your ingredients and season them as desired.
- Place them in a vacuum bag.
- Vacuum seal the bag using the appropriate function (Wet/Dry/Soft) based on the food type.
- The sealed bags are now ready for Sous-Vide cooking.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your vacuum sealer.
- Before Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Drip Tray: The removable drip tray is dishwasher safe. Remove it after use, especially when sealing moist foods, and clean it thoroughly.
- Sealing Bar and Gaskets: Carefully wipe the sealing bar and the rubber gaskets around the vacuum chamber with a damp cloth. Ensure no food particles are stuck, as this can prevent a proper seal. Allow them to dry completely before closing the lid.
- Storage: Store the appliance in a dry place, preferably with the lid unlatched to prevent compression of the gaskets, which can prolong their life.
