3. Components and Features
The LEM Mighty Bite 8.5-inch Meat Slicer is designed for precise slicing of various foods. Key components include:
- 8.5-inch Stainless Steel Blade: Comes with both a straight edge and a serrated edge blade for versatile slicing. The blade rotates at 68 RPM.
- Adjustable Thickness Dial: Allows for precise slice thickness adjustments from 0 inches (paper-thin) to 0.625 inches (over half an inch thick).
- Food Pusher/Handguard: A clear, removable plastic component designed to safely guide food towards the blade and protect your hands.
- Aluminum Frame: Provides a sturdy and durable base for the slicer.
- Suction Feet: Located on the base for enhanced stability during operation.
- 200-Watt Motor: Provides reliable power for consistent slicing.
- Power Switch: Located on the side of the unit, with a plastic coating for easy cleaning.

4. Setup
- Unpack all components and remove any packaging materials.
- Place the slicer on a clean, dry, and stable countertop. Ensure the suction feet are securely attached to prevent movement.
- Verify that the blade is correctly installed. If not, refer to the 'Blade Installation' section.
- Attach the food pusher/handguard to the food carriage.
- Ensure the thickness adjustment dial is set to '0' before plugging in the unit.
5. Operating Instructions
- Prepare Food: For optimal slicing, especially for meats, it is recommended that the food item is slightly chilled or partially frozen. This helps maintain its shape and allows for cleaner, more consistent slices.
- Adjust Thickness: Use the thickness adjustment dial to select your desired slice thickness. The dial allows for settings from 0 to 0.625 inches.
- Place Food: Position the food item firmly against the food carriage and the thickness guide. Use the food pusher to secure the food.
- Power On: Plug the slicer into a grounded electrical outlet. Turn on the power switch located on the side of the unit.
- Slice: While holding the food pusher firmly, gently push the food carriage back and forth across the rotating blade. Apply even pressure for consistent slices.
- Monitor Run Time: The suggested maximum continuous run time is 10 minutes. Allow the motor to rest and cool down if operating for extended periods.
- Power Off: Once slicing is complete, turn off the power switch and unplug the unit from the outlet.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your slicer.
- Disassembly: The slicer is designed for easy disassembly. To remove the blade, turn the screw in the center of the blade approximately a quarter of a turn counter-clockwise, then push from the back to release it. The food carriage and handguard are also easily removable.
- Cleaning: All removable parts, including the blade, food carriage, and handguard, are dishwasher safe. The main unit should be wiped down with a damp cloth. The plastic-coated power switch is easy to clean.
- Blade Care: Always handle the blade with extreme caution. Wear cut-resistant gloves. Ensure the blade is thoroughly dried before reassembly or storage to prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the slicer in a clean, dry place when not in use.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your LEM Mighty Bite 8.5-inch Meat Slicer, please review the following common solutions:
- Slicer not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a functional outlet and the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Inconsistent slicing: Verify that the food item is properly chilled or partially frozen. Ensure the food pusher is applying even pressure. Check if the blade is clean and free of debris.
- Slicer overheating: The unit has a suggested maximum run time of 10 minutes. If it feels hot, turn it off and allow it to cool down for at least 30 minutes before resuming operation.
- Blade not cutting effectively: Ensure the correct blade (straight or serrated) is used for the food type. The serrated blade is often more effective for fibrous meats or slightly frozen items. If the blade is dull, consider replacement.
