GEOID Ultralight TPU Inner Tube User Manual

Model: PV60mm / PV75mm (700c x 23c-30c)

1. Product Overview

The GEOID Ultralight TPU Inner Tube is designed for road and MTB bicycles, offering a lightweight and durable alternative to traditional butyl rubber tubes. Made from advanced TPU material, it provides enhanced puncture resistance, reduced rotational inertia, and a comfortable riding experience.

Key features include:

  • Ultralight Design: Weighing approximately 36g, significantly lighter than standard inner tubes, reducing wheelset weight and rotational inertia.
  • Enhanced Durability: Explosion-proof and highly puncture-resistant TPU material ensures a safer and more reliable ride.
  • Compact Size: Approximately 1/3 the volume of traditional tubes, making it easy to carry as a spare.
  • Long-lasting & Eco-friendly: TPU material resists aging, is non-toxic, non-hazardous, biodegradable, and recyclable.

2. Installation Instructions

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your TPU inner tube. Please follow these steps carefully. For a visual guide, refer to the installation video below.

2.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  1. Before using, check the inner tube for any air leaks as instructed in this manual. Any leaks will result in a product replacement.
  2. Verify the directions of the wheelset and tire are correct.
  3. Ensure the rim is free of any sharp objects or debris that could damage the inner tube.
  4. Remove the existing inner tube and clean any foreign objects from inside the rim tape and outer tire.

2.2 Installing the TPU Inner Tube

  1. After inspection, mount one side of the tire onto the rim.
  2. Take out the new TPU inner tube. Unscrew the valve core and inflate the inner tube slightly with an air pump (air pressure must be below 8 PSI). This gives the tube some shape and prevents pinching.
  3. Tighten the valve core after this initial inflation.
  4. Insert the valve of the inner tube into the valve stem hole on the wheelset.
  5. Carefully push the inner tube completely in between the rim and the tire, ensuring it is not twisted or pinched.
  6. Mount the other side of the tire onto the rim. Note: Do not use a metal tire spoon or forcefully squeeze the inner tube when prying the inner tube into the rim, as this can cause damage. Use plastic tire levers if necessary.
  7. After mounting, check and verify that the inner tube is not squeezed between the tire and the rim. Check both sides of the rim carefully.
  8. Pull the valve of the inner tube to the center of the rim. This helps protect the valve from being squeezed during full inflation.

2.3 Post-Installation Inflation

  1. Unscrew the valve core again.
  2. Continue to inflate the inner tube to the recommended pressure for your tire (check the tire sidewall for maximum pressure).
  3. After inflation is completed, check whether the safety line of the tire is exposed completely and evenly around the rim.
  4. Rotate the wheelset to verify the tire is free of obvious vibrations before normal use.
  5. Screw the valve core back on and secure the valve cap.

3. Operating Instructions

The GEOID Ultralight TPU Inner Tube operates like a standard bicycle inner tube. The primary operational aspect is maintaining correct tire pressure.

  1. Inflation: Always inflate your tire to the pressure range indicated on the tire's sidewall. Do not exceed the maximum pressure.
  2. Pressure Checks: Regularly check your tire pressure before each ride, as TPU tubes may lose air slightly faster than traditional butyl tubes.
  3. Valve Type: This inner tube uses a French valve (Presta valve). Ensure your pump is compatible or use an adapter if needed.

4. Maintenance

While TPU inner tubes are known for their durability and low maintenance, a few practices can extend their lifespan:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect your tires and rims for embedded debris, cuts, or damage that could lead to punctures.
  • Proper Storage: When not in use, store spare inner tubes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid Over-inflation/Under-inflation: Always adhere to the recommended tire pressure to prevent premature wear or damage to the tube and tire.
  • Cleaning: Keep your rims and tires clean to prevent abrasive materials from causing wear on the inner tube.

5. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Frequent PuncturesDebris in tire/rim, sharp edges on rim tape, under-inflation.Inspect tire and rim for foreign objects. Replace rim tape if damaged. Maintain correct tire pressure.
Air LossLoose valve core, small puncture, improper tire seating.Tighten valve core. Check for punctures (submerge in water). Re-seat tire and inner tube.
Tire Wobbles/UnevenInner tube pinched, tire not seated correctly.Deflate, re-seat the inner tube and tire, ensuring no part is pinched. Inflate slowly while checking tire bead.
