Setup
1. Battery Installation
The remote control requires one 12V battery for operation. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted according to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment. A plastic tab may need to be removed to activate the battery upon first use.
2. Mounting the Remote Control
The remote control comes with a 3M adhesive sticker for easy and secure mounting. Choose a flat surface on your dashboard, steering wheel, console, or any other convenient location within reach while driving.
- Clean the chosen surface thoroughly to ensure it is free of dust and grease.
- Peel off the protective film from one side of the 3M adhesive sticker and apply it firmly to the back of the remote control.
- Peel off the protective film from the other side of the 3M adhesive sticker.
- Press the remote control firmly onto the desired surface in your vehicle for at least 30 seconds to ensure strong adhesion.

3. Pairing with Dash Cam
The remote control is designed to automatically connect to your compatible Vantrue dash cam via WiFi. No manual pairing process is typically required. Once the dash cam is powered on and the remote control has a working battery, they should establish a connection within split-seconds.
If the remote does not connect, ensure your dash cam's WiFi is enabled and that the remote is within the 9.8ft operating range. Rebooting the dash cam may also help establish the connection.
Operating Instructions
The Vantrue Wireless Remote Control provides intuitive one-touch operation for key dash cam functions.
- Event Locking / Snapshot: Press the button with the triangular exclamation point icon (or the camera icon, depending on model/function) to instantly lock the current video segment or take a photo. This ensures important footage is saved and not overwritten during loop recording.
- Audio ON/OFF: Press the button with the microphone icon to toggle the audio recording function. This allows you to quickly turn off audio for privacy or to comply with local regulations.
These functions are designed to be accessible with minimal distraction, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road while managing your dash cam.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the remote control. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the surface or buttons.
- Battery Replacement: When the remote control's indicator light dims or it becomes unresponsive, it's time to replace the 12V battery. Carefully open the battery compartment, replace the old battery with a new one, ensuring correct polarity, and close the compartment securely.
- Storage: If storing the remote control for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage and potential damage to the device. Store in a cool, dry place.
