4. Setup
4.1 Fitting the Helmet
A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety and comfort. The Advant helmet is designed for an intermediate oval head shape. It is recommended to consider ordering at least one size larger than your usual size, as this helmet tends to run small.
To determine your size:
- Locate Your Measuring Tool: Use a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string and a straight ruler.
- Measure Your Head: Wrap the measuring tool around your head, just above your eyebrows. If using string, mark the point where it overlaps, then measure with a ruler.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the Helmet Shell
Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, mild soap, and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish and shell material.
6.2 Visor and Sun Shield Care
Clean the visor and sun shield with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap or a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Do not use abrasive materials or paper towels, which can scratch the surface. The included Pinlock insert should be handled with care; clean it only with a soft, damp cloth and avoid rubbing the inner surface.
6.3 Liner Care
The technical fabric comfort liner and cheek pads are removable and washable. Gently remove them from the helmet. Hand wash with mild soap and cold water, then air dry completely before reinserting. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
6.4 Cardo Unit Care
Keep the Cardo unit dry and clean. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry completely before use. Periodically clean the charging contacts with a dry cloth.
6.5 Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided helmet bag to protect it from scratches and dust.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Fit Issues
- Helmet feels too tight: Ensure you have selected the correct size based on the size chart and the recommendation to size up. Cheek pads can sometimes be exchanged for thinner ones.
- Helmet feels too loose: A loose helmet compromises safety. Ensure the chin strap is properly tightened. If the helmet still moves excessively, it may be too large and should be replaced with a smaller size.
7.2 Cardo Connectivity Problems
- Cannot pair with phone/intercom: Ensure the Cardo unit is charged and in pairing mode. Refer to the Cardo 4X user manual for specific pairing procedures. Try resetting the Cardo unit.
- Audio issues (no sound, distorted sound): Check speaker connections inside the helmet. Ensure volume is adjusted correctly on both the Cardo unit and your connected device.
7.3 Visor Fogging
The helmet includes a Pinlock insert designed to prevent fogging. Ensure the Pinlock insert is correctly installed and sealed against the visor. If fogging persists, check for proper ventilation or consider replacing the Pinlock seal if it is old or damaged.
