5. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to properly set up your NDJ-5S Digital Rotary Viscometer:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present.
  2. Base Assembly: Place the base on a stable, level surface.
  3. Lifting Assembly Installation: Attach the lifting assembly to the base. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  4. Viscometer Unit Placement: Mount the main viscometer unit onto the lifting assembly. Ensure it is firmly seated and aligned.
  5. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the viscometer unit and then plug it into a suitable 110V or 220V AC power outlet.
  6. Rotor Selection: Select the appropriate rotor (1#, 2#, 3#, or 4#) based on the expected viscosity range of your sample. Refer to the "Measurement Range Table" in the specifications section.
  7. Rotor Attachment: Carefully screw the selected rotor onto the bottom of the viscometer's spindle. Ensure it is hand-tightened, but do not overtighten.
  8. Protection Bracket: If necessary, attach the protection bracket to prevent accidental contact with the rotating rotor.

6. Operating Instructions

This section outlines the general procedure for operating the NDJ-5S Digital Rotary Viscometer to measure liquid viscosity.

  1. Power On: Turn on the viscometer using the power switch. The LCD display will illuminate.
  2. Rotor Selection and Attachment: Ensure the correct rotor is securely attached as per the setup instructions.
  3. Sample Preparation: Pour the liquid sample into a suitable container. Ensure the sample volume is sufficient to fully immerse the rotor up to the marked line.
  4. Rotor Immersion: Carefully lower the viscometer unit using the lifting assembly until the rotor is immersed in the sample liquid. Ensure no air bubbles are trapped around the rotor.
  5. Set Parameters:
    • Use the control buttons (up/down arrows) to select the desired rotor speed (6, 12, 30, or 60 rpm).
    • Press the "OK" button to confirm the settings.
  6. Start Measurement: The viscometer will automatically begin rotating the rotor and display the viscosity reading in mPa·s on the LCD screen.
  7. Read Measurement: Allow the reading to stabilize before recording the viscosity value.
  8. Clean Up: After measurement, carefully raise the viscometer unit, remove the rotor, and clean both the rotor and the sample container thoroughly.
