  • Power Button (⑂): Short press to show clock (from hibernation), long press to turn on/off the radio.
  • Lock Key: Press to lock the tuning knob. Long press to lock all keys.
  • Quick Preset Keys (1-9): Long press a number key (e.g., "2") to save the current station. Short press to recall a saved station.
  • SCAN Key: Long press to auto-search for stations and save them. Short press to pause the scan.
  • BAND Key: Cycles through available frequency bands (AM, FM, SW, AIR, VHF, WB).
  • MODE Key: Switches between radio, Bluetooth, and TF card playback modes.
  • STEP Key: Scrolls the tuning knob. In frequency mode, it makes numbers move to the left for larger adjustments.
  • FREQ Key: Used for direct frequency entry. Press FREQ, enter numbers, then ENTER.
  • MEMORY Key: Press to enter preset mode. Long press to save the current station to memory.

4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Device (Battery Installation)

The LIJIANI RD239 radio supports two types of power supply: 3x AA batteries or one BL-5C rechargeable battery.

  • For BL-5C Li-ion battery: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Insert the BL-5C battery, ensuring the correct polarity (positive and negative terminals) as indicated inside the compartment. Insert the electrode end first.
  • For AA batteries: Open the battery compartment cover. Insert three 1.5V AA batteries, observing the correct polarity as marked.
  • Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  • If using AA batteries, remove them if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

4.2 Charging the BL-5C Battery

Connect the supplied USB Type-C cable to the Type-C port on the side of the radio and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

4.3 Initial Power On

Long press the Power button (⑂) to turn on the radio. The display will illuminate, and the radio will typically start in the last used mode.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Radio Operation

  • Power On/Off: Long press the Power button (⑂).
  • Volume Adjustment: Use the V- and V+ buttons to decrease or increase the volume.

5.2 Band Selection

Press the BAND button repeatedly to cycle through the available frequency bands: FM, AM, SW, AIR, VHF, and Weather Band (WB).

5.3 Tuning Methods

  • Manual Tuning: Rotate the Tuning Knob on the right side of the radio to manually adjust the frequency.
  • Auto Scan: Long press the SCAN button to automatically search for and save available stations within the current band. Short press to pause.
  • Direct Frequency Entry: Press the FREQ button, then use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter the desired frequency. Press ENTER to confirm.

5.4 Presets and Memory

  • Saving a Station: Tune to the desired station. Long press the MEMORY key, then select a memory location using the numeric keypad or tuning knob, and press ENTER to save. Alternatively, long press one of the Quick Preset Keys (1-9) to save to that specific slot.
  • Recalling a Station: Short press the MEMORY key to enter memory recall mode, then use the tuning knob or numeric keypad to select a saved station. Alternatively, short press one of the Quick Preset Keys (1-9).

5.5 Bluetooth Mode

  • Press the MODE button until "Bluetooth" or a Bluetooth icon appears on the display.
  • On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices. Select "LIJIANI RD239" (or similar) to pair.
  • Once paired, you can play audio from your device through the radio's speaker.

5.6 TF Card Playback

  • Insert a MicroSD/TF card (formatted to FAT32) into the TF Card slot on the side of the radio.
  • Press the MODE button until "TF Card" or a corresponding icon appears.
  • The radio will automatically begin playing audio files (MP3/WAV/WMA) from the card. Use the navigation buttons to skip tracks.

5.7 Recording Function

  • Microphone Recording: In any mode, press the REC button to start recording audio via the built-in microphone. Press REC again to stop.
  • Radio Recording: While listening to a radio station, press the REC button to record the broadcast. Press REC again to stop.
  • Accessing Recordings: Press the REC FILE button to browse and play your recorded audio files.

5.8 Alarm Clock and Sleep Timer

  • Setting the Alarm: Long press the AL.SET key to enter alarm setting mode. Use the numeric keypad or tuning knob to set the time and alarm sound (e.g., radio station or buzzer). Press ENTER to confirm.
  • Setting the Sleep Timer: While the radio is on, short press the SLEEP button (often combined with another key, refer to display icons) to cycle through sleep timer durations (e.g., 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 minutes). The radio will automatically turn off after the selected time.

5.9 Flashlight Operation

Slide the Flashlight Switch located on the side/rear of the radio to turn the integrated flashlight on or off.

5.10 External Antenna Connection

For improved reception, especially on SW, AIR, and VHF bands, connect an external antenna to the ANT IN (3.5mm) jack on the side of the radio. Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal performance.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: If using AA batteries, remove them if the radio will not be used for an extended period. For the BL-5C battery, charge it regularly to maintain its lifespan, even if not in frequent use.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to prevent bending or breakage.
