ANDELI CUT-160 Plasma Cutter User Manual

Comprehensive guide for setup, operation, and maintenance.

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your ANDELI CUT-160 Plasma Cutter. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the machine to ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance. This plasma cutter is designed for cutting various metals, including stainless steel, alloy, aluminum, mild steel, and carbon steel, without the need for an external air compressor.

Safety Instructions

Always prioritize safety when operating the plasma cutter. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or damage to the equipment.

  • Ensure the work area is well-ventilated and free from flammable materials.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet with proper shade, flame-resistant clothing, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Connect the machine to a properly grounded 200V three-phase power supply.
  • Do not operate the machine in wet conditions or near water.
  • Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the operating area.
  • Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or changing consumables.
  • The machine is CE certified, ensuring compliance with European safety standards.

Setup

  1. Placement: Position the plasma cutter on a stable, level surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the machine.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to a dedicated three-phase 200V power outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded.
  3. Earth Cable Connection: Attach the earth cable securely to the designated ground terminal on the plasma cutter. Connect the earth clamp to the workpiece or a metal workbench that is in direct contact with the workpiece.
  4. Plasma Torch Connection: Connect the plasma cutting torch to the appropriate connector on the front panel of the machine. Ensure it is firmly secured.
  5. Air Regulator: Although the unit has a built-in compressor, an external air regulator is provided for fine-tuning air pressure if needed for specific applications. Connect it inline if required.
  6. Consumables Installation: Install the appropriate electrode and cup into the plasma torch head. Refer to the torch manual for specific instructions on changing consumables.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

  1. Power On: Turn on the main power switch on the plasma cutter. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Current Adjustment: Use the current adjustment knob to set the desired cutting amperage based on the material type and thickness. For 35mm mild steel, the machine can cut without stress.
  3. Pilot Arc Ignition: The CUT-160 features pilot arc ignition, allowing for non-contact arc starting. This means you do not need to touch the torch to the workpiece to initiate the arc.
  4. Cutting: Position the plasma torch over the starting point of your cut. Press the trigger on the torch to initiate the arc. Slowly and steadily move the torch along the desired cutting line. Maintain a consistent distance from the workpiece for optimal cut quality.
  5. Cutting Capacity: With a 200V three-phase input, the maximum cutting thickness is 60mm.
  6. Power Off: After completing your work, release the torch trigger and turn off the main power switch.

Cutting Different Materials

The ANDELI CUT-160 is versatile and can cut a wide range of metals. Adjust amperage and cutting speed according to the material:

  • Mild Steel: Excellent cutting performance, up to 35mm stress-free.
  • Stainless Steel: Good cutting quality.
  • Aluminum: Requires faster cutting speeds.
  • Alloy Steel & Carbon Steel: Adjust settings based on specific alloy properties.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your plasma cutter.

  • Consumables Inspection: Regularly inspect the torch consumables (electrode, nozzle, shield cup) for wear. Replace them when they show signs of degradation to maintain cut quality and prevent damage to the torch.
  • Air Filter: Check and clean the air filter on the air regulator periodically to ensure clean air supply to the torch.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the machine clean and free from dust and metal particles. Use compressed air to blow out internal components if necessary, ensuring the machine is unplugged.
  • Cable Inspection: Inspect all cables (power, torch, earth) for any signs of damage, fraying, or loose connections. Repair or replace damaged cables immediately.
