1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the PowerA Wireless Controller, designed for use with Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch - OLED Model consoles. This controller offers wireless freedom and enhanced gaming features.

4. Controller Layout

The PowerA Wireless Controller features a standard layout for intuitive gameplay.

  • Left Analog Stick: For movement and camera control.
  • Right Analog Stick: For camera control and aiming.
  • D-Pad: Directional input.
  • A/B/X/Y Buttons: Action buttons.
  • L/R Buttons: Shoulder buttons.
  • ZL/ZR Buttons: Trigger buttons.
  • +/- Buttons: System menu buttons.
  • Home Button: Returns to the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
  • Capture Button: Takes screenshots.
  • Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGR/AGL): Programmable buttons on the back of the controller.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the controller.
  2. Insert the two included AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Pairing with Nintendo Switch

  1. Ensure your Nintendo Switch console is powered on and updated to the latest system version.
  2. From the HOME Menu, select Controllers, then Change Grip/Order.
  3. Press and hold the SYNC Button on the top of the PowerA Wireless Controller for at least three seconds. The LED indicators on the bottom of the controller will begin to flash.
  4. Once the controller is successfully paired, the player LED(s) corresponding to the controller number will remain lit.
  5. The controller will automatically connect to your Switch console when powered on and within range after initial pairing.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Advanced Gaming Buttons Programming

The Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGR and AGL) can be programmed to replicate any other button on the controller, including L, R, ZL, ZR, A, B, X, Y, D-pad, and analog stick clicks.

This diagram shows the location of the Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGR, AGL) on the controller's rear and lists the various face and shoulder buttons that can be mapped to them.

  1. Press and hold the Program Button (small button on the back, near the battery compartment) for 2-3 seconds. The Program LED will flash.
  2. Press the Advanced Gaming Button (AGR or AGL) you wish to program. The Program LED will flash rapidly.
  3. Press the button you want to map to the Advanced Gaming Button (e.g., 'A' button). The Program LED will flash 3 times, indicating successful programming.
  4. To clear a programmed button, repeat step 1, then press the Advanced Gaming Button twice. The Program LED will flash 3 times.

6.2 Turning On/Off

  • To turn on: Press the Home button.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the Home button for 5 seconds, or the controller will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Care

  • Always use fresh AA alkaline batteries or high-quality rechargeable AA batteries.
  • Remove batteries if the controller will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

7.2 Cleaning

  • Wipe the controller with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Controller not pairing: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and charged. Make sure the Switch console is in "Change Grip/Order" mode. Try restarting the Switch console.
  • Connection issues: Ensure the controller is within range of the Switch console. Avoid obstructions between the controller and the console. Check for other wireless interference.
  • Buttons unresponsive: Replace batteries. If using rechargeable batteries, ensure they are fully charged.
  • Short battery life: Ensure you are using fresh alkaline batteries or fully charged rechargeable batteries. Battery life can vary based on usage and battery quality.
