1. Introduction

The Meross MSS315 Matter Smart Plug is a 16A Wi-Fi enabled smart plug designed for seamless integration into your smart home ecosystem. Compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home, this smart plug offers energy monitoring capabilities, voice control, and remote access. It supports the Matter protocol, ensuring broad compatibility and enhanced security for your connected devices.

2. Setup

2.1 Pre-installation Checklist

2.2 Initial Pairing with Apple Home

To add your Meross Matter Smart Plug to Apple Home:

  1. Open the Apple Home app on your device.
  2. Tap the “+” symbol, then select “Add or Scan Accessory”.
  3. Scan the QR setup code located on your Matter device or its packaging.
  4. Wait for your device to connect. This may take a few moments.
  5. Choose a location for your device and assign it a name.
  6. Tap “Done” to complete the setup.

2.3 Multi-Admin Setup (Adding to Other Platforms)

The Matter protocol's Multi-Admin feature allows you to control your smart plug from multiple smart home platforms simultaneously. After initial pairing with one platform (e.g., Apple Home), you can generate a temporary pairing code to add it to others.

2.3.1 Generating a Temporary Pairing Code (Example: from Apple Home)

  1. In the Apple Home app, go to the settings page of your Meross Smart Plug.
  2. Scroll down and tap “Turn On Pairing Mode”.
  3. A temporary pairing code will appear. Copy this code. This code is valid for approximately 3 minutes.

2.3.2 Adding to Amazon Alexa (using temporary code)

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app.
  2. Tap the “+” symbol, then select “Add Device”.
  3. Choose “Matter” from the list of device types.
  4. Tap “Try Numeric Code Instead”, then “Enter Code”.
  5. Enter the temporary pairing code copied from the Apple Home app.
  6. Wait for your device to connect.

2.3.3 Adding to Google Home (using temporary code)

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the “+” symbol, then select “Set up device”.
  3. Choose “New device”.
  4. Select “Matter-enabled device” from the list.
  5. Tap “Continue without scanning”.
  6. Enter the temporary pairing code copied from the previous platform (e.g., Alexa or Apple Home).
  7. Wait for your device to connect.

2.4 Adding to Meross App (for Advanced Features)

While Matter provides basic control, advanced features like energy monitoring and firmware updates are accessible only through the Meross app. Ensure your phone and Matter device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the Meross app.
  2. Tap the “+” symbol to add a new device.
  3. Your paired Matter device should be automatically found. Tap “Add”.
  4. Wait for your device to connect.

3. Operating the Smart Plug

3.1 Basic On/Off Control

Once set up, you can control the smart plug directly from the respective smart home apps (Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home) or the Meross app by tapping the on/off icon.

3.2 Voice Control

Use voice commands with your connected smart assistants:

3.3 Remote Control

Control your appliances from anywhere using your smartphone with internet access. Simply open the connected smart home app or the Meross app to manage your devices.

3.4 Scheduling, Timers, and Countdown

Create custom schedules, set timers, or configure countdowns to automatically turn your devices on or off according to your routine. This feature is available through the Meross app and supported smart home platforms.

3.5 Energy Monitoring

The Meross app provides real-time energy consumption data. You can view daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly electricity usage, helping you monitor and manage your energy expenses. This feature also supports monitoring photovoltaic solar panels.

3.6 Standby Power Killer

This advanced feature, available in the Meross app, automatically turns off devices when they enter standby mode, saving energy and enhancing safety. You can customize the power threshold for this function.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Firmware Updates

Regular firmware updates are released to improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. These updates can be performed via the Meross app. Navigate to the device settings within the Meross app and look for the 'Firmware Update' option.

4.2 Cleaning and Care

The smart plug is made of durable Polycarbonate material. To clean, simply wipe with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the device is unplugged before cleaning.

5.4 Matter Pairing Code Issues

Temporary pairing codes generated for Multi-Admin setup are valid for a limited time (approx. 3 minutes). If the code expires, generate a new one from the platform where the device was initially added.
