1.2 Filling Ink Tanks
The EcoTank L1250 uses a refillable ink tank system. Follow these steps to fill the ink tanks:
- Open the ink tank unit cover on the side of the printer.
- Uncap the ink bottle for the corresponding color (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
- Align the ink bottle nozzle with the correct tank's inlet and insert it. The ink will automatically flow into the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle.

3. Maintenance
3.1 Checking Ink Levels and Refilling
Regularly check the ink levels in the tanks. Refill tanks when they reach the lower line to prevent air from entering the ink tubes, which can affect print quality. Always use genuine Epson EcoTank ink bottles.
3.2 Print Head Cleaning
If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, incorrect colors), perform a print head cleaning. This can be done through the printer's utility software on your computer or via the Epson Smart Panel app.
- Access the printer utility from your computer's control panel or the Epson Smart Panel app.
- Select Print Head Cleaning.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. A nozzle check pattern can be printed to verify improvement.
3.3 Power Flushing
If print quality issues persist after multiple head cleanings, a power flush may be necessary. This consumes more ink and should only be performed if standard cleaning is ineffective. Consult your printer's software or the Epson support website for detailed instructions.
4. Troubleshooting
4.1 Common Issues and Solutions
- Printer Not Responding:
- Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer or network.
- Check for error messages on the printer or computer.
- Restart the printer and your computer.
- Poor Print Quality:
- Perform a print head cleaning and nozzle check.
- Check ink levels and refill if necessary.
- Ensure you are using the correct paper type and print settings.
- Paper Jams:
- Turn off the printer and carefully remove any jammed paper from the input tray, output tray, or inside the printer.
- Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not creased or curled.
