1. Introduction

The Moretti DM592S is an automatic digital blood pressure monitor designed for accurate and rapid measurement of systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate. It features an innovative design with a large 4.8-inch (6.9 × 10.2 cm) backlit LCD screen that simultaneously displays readings, date/time, and irregular heartbeat detection (IHD). This device is equipped with memory functions for two users, storing up to 60 measurements per user, and can calculate the average of the last three readings. An optional USB interface allows for PC connectivity.

2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the monitor.
  2. Insert four (4) AA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. Alternatively, connect the optional AC power adapter (DR205) to the monitor and a power outlet (AC 220/230V 50Hz - DC 6.0V, 600mA).

4.2 Cuff Connection

  • Insert the air tube connector from the cuff firmly into the air jack on the side of the monitor.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Before Measurement

  • Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing for 30 minutes before measurement.
  • Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement.
  • Sit upright with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.
  • Place your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.

5.2 Applying the Arm Cuff

  1. Ensure the cuff is suitable for your arm circumference (22-36 cm).
  2. Slide your left arm through the cuff loop. The air tube should run down the inside of your arm.
  3. Position the cuff so the bottom edge is approximately 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 inch) above your elbow joint.
  4. Wrap the cuff snugly around your upper arm, securing it with the Velcro closure. Ensure it is not too tight or too loose.
  5. The "Main Artery" mark on the cuff should be aligned with your brachial artery (inner side of your arm).

5.3 Taking a Measurement

  1. Press the START/STOP button to turn on the monitor. The cuff will automatically inflate.
  2. Remain still and silent during the measurement.
  3. Once the measurement is complete, the monitor will display your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate.
  4. Press the START/STOP button again to turn off the monitor, or it will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity.

6. Memory Functions

The DM592S features memory storage for two users (User 1 and User 2), with 60 memories per user, totaling 120 memories. It also calculates the average of the last three measurements.

6.1 Selecting a User

The monitor has dedicated buttons for User 1 and User 2 (indicated by padlock icons). Press the respective user button to select the desired user profile before taking a measurement or reviewing memory.

6.2 Reviewing Stored Measurements

  • With the monitor off, press the MEM button.
  • The monitor will display the average of the last three measurements for the currently selected user.
  • Press the MEM button repeatedly to scroll through individual stored measurements, from most recent to oldest.

7. PC Interface (Optional)

The Moretti DM592S offers the possibility to interface with a PC via a USB port. This functionality requires an optional software CD and USB cable. Please refer to the instructions provided with the optional software for detailed connection and data transfer procedures.

8. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the monitor and cuff with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
  • Storage: Store the device and cuff in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and dust.
  • Batteries: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

9. Troubleshooting
