7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Nighthawk RAX36S router.
7.1 No Internet Connection
- Verify that your modem is powered on and has an active internet connection.
- Ensure all Ethernet cables are securely connected between the modem and the router's WAN port, and between the router and your devices (if wired).
- Power cycle both your modem and router. Disconnect power from both devices, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect power to the modem first. Once the modem is fully online, reconnect power to the router.
- Check the router's status LEDs. Refer to the router's quick start guide for LED indicator meanings.
7.2 Weak or Intermittent Wi-Fi Signal
- Router Placement: Ensure the router is centrally located in your home, away from large metal objects, thick walls, and other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- Interference: Other devices operating on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands (e.g., cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth devices) can cause interference. Try changing your Wi-Fi channel in the router settings.
- Distance: While the router offers good coverage, signal strength decreases with distance. Consider using a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system for very large homes or areas with significant obstacles.
- Firmware: Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.
7.3 Parental Controls Not Functioning
- Verify that the parental control settings are correctly configured through the Nighthawk App or the router's web interface.
- Ensure the router's firmware is updated to the latest version, as this may resolve known issues.
- If issues persist, consult the NETGEAR support website for specific troubleshooting steps related to parental controls.
