Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts, including the coffee maker unit, glass carafe, and removable filter basket, are present and undamaged.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. Initial Brew Cycle: To clean the internal components, fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with clean water. Place an empty paper filter (or the reusable filter) in the filter basket. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Plug in the coffee maker and press the ON/OFF switch to start a brew cycle. Allow the cycle to complete, then discard the water. Repeat this process once more with fresh water.
  4. Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure adequate clearance above the unit for opening the lid.

Operating Instructions

  1. Add Filter: Place a basket-style paper filter into the removable filter basket.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup of water, adjusted to personal preference.
  3. Add Water: Fill the glass carafe with fresh, cold water to the desired number of cups. Open the coffee maker lid and pour the water into the water reservoir, located at the back of the unit. The clear water level window on the side indicates the water level.
  4. Position Carafe: Place the carafe with its lid securely on the warming plate.
  5. Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that brewing has begun.
  6. Sneak-A-Cup™: If you wish to pour a cup before brewing is complete, carefully remove the carafe. The flow of coffee will temporarily stop. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 30 seconds to prevent overflow and allow brewing to resume.
  7. Serving: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the "Keep Hot" mode, maintaining the coffee's temperature. The indicator light will remain on.
  8. Turn Off: To turn off the coffee maker, press the ON/OFF switch again. The indicator light will turn off.

Maintenance

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, discard used coffee grounds and paper filter. Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are dishwasher-safe (top rack recommended).
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal): Over time, mineral deposits (calcification) can build up in your coffee maker. To remove these, mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of cold water. Pour the mixture into the water reservoir. Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the ON/OFF switch to start brewing. After about 30 seconds, press the ON/OFF switch again to turn off the coffee maker and let the mixture soak for 30 minutes. Then, press the ON/OFF switch to resume brewing until the reservoir is empty. Discard the mixture. Run 2-3 full cycles with clean, cold water to rinse thoroughly.

Troubleshooting

If your coffee maker is not functioning as expected, please check the following common issues:

  • Coffee Not Brewing: Ensure the coffee maker is plugged in and the ON/OFF switch is pressed. Check that the carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate.
  • Weak Coffee: Adjust the amount of coffee grounds used. Ensure the water reservoir is filled to the correct level.
  • Overflowing Filter Basket: Ensure the carafe is properly seated on the warming plate. Do not remove the carafe for more than 30 seconds when using the Sneak-A-Cup™ feature. Use the correct size paper filter.
  • Slow Brewing: Mineral deposits may have built up. Perform a descaling procedure as described in the Maintenance section.
