Material and Finish:

All components are constructed from heat-treated Chrome Vanadium Steel, ensuring durability and high torque strength. The SuperKrome Plating provides a high-polish, jewelry-like finish for long life and maximum corrosion resistance.

3. Setup

Your SK 1/2" Drive Socket Set comes pre-organized in a custom-fit EVA foam storage tray. No assembly is required for the tools themselves. Upon receiving your set, ensure all 52 pieces are present and correctly seated in their designated slots within the foam tray.

Organizing the Tray:

The EVA foam tray is designed for optimal organization and accessibility. Each socket and accessory has a specific cutout, often with size markings for quick identification. Metric sockets are typically distinguished by a green band for easy differentiation from SAE sizes.

The lid of the case is spring-loaded and can be easily removed if you prefer to store the foam tray directly in a tool chest drawer or on a workbench for quick access.

4. Operating Instructions

Using the 1/2" Drive Ratchet:

  1. Direction Control: The ratchet features a thumbwheel switch on its head to easily change the direction of rotation (clockwise for tightening, counter-clockwise for loosening). Simply flip the switch to the desired position.
  2. Socket Attachment: To attach a socket, align the square drive of the socket with the square drive on the ratchet head. Press the push-button on the ratchet head and firmly push the socket onto the drive until it clicks into place. Release the button to secure the socket.
  3. Socket Removal: To remove a socket, press the push-button on the ratchet head and pull the socket off.

Using Extension Bars and Universal Joint:

For fasteners in hard-to-reach areas or at awkward angles, utilize the included extension bars and universal joint.

  • Extension Bars: Attach an extension bar between the ratchet and the socket to increase reach. The set includes 3" and 5" extension bars.
  • Universal Joint: Connect the universal joint between the extension bar (or ratchet directly) and the socket. This allows the socket to pivot, providing access to fasteners that are not directly in line with the drive tool.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your SK tools. The SuperKrome finish is designed for durability and corrosion resistance, but regular care is still recommended.

Cleaning:

  • After each use, wipe down tools with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt, grease, and moisture.
  • For stubborn grime, use a mild degreaser or cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
  • Ensure tools are completely dry before storing to prevent rust.

Storage:

Always store your socket set in its original EVA foam organizer. This tray provides a custom fit for each tool, preventing them from shifting, scratching, or getting lost. The high-visibility size markings on the tray aid in quick selection and proper return of tools.

6. Troubleshooting

While SK tools are built for durability, occasional issues may arise. Here are some common concerns and general advice:

  • Socket Not Fitting: Ensure you are using the correct size and type (SAE or Metric) of socket for the fastener. Verify the fastener head is not stripped or damaged.
  • Ratchet Slipping: If the ratchet mechanism slips, it may indicate wear or internal damage. Discontinue use and contact customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to force a slipping ratchet.
  • Corrosion/Rust: Although SuperKrome finish is corrosion-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture or harsh chemicals can cause issues. Refer to the cleaning instructions in Section 5. If rust appears, clean immediately with a rust remover and apply a protective oil.
  • Damaged Tools: Do not use damaged or worn tools. Using compromised tools can lead to injury or further damage to fasteners. Replace any tools that show signs of significant wear, cracks, or deformation.
