1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, setup, and operation of your ULTRALOQ Bolt Pro Z-Wave Smart Lock. Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use to ensure proper functionality and safety.

3. Installation Guide

Important Notes Before Installation:

  • Install and test the lock with the door open to avoid being locked out.
  • Read all instructions before contacting customer support.
  • DO NOT install the batteries before installing the lock.
  • Follow the instructions in sequential order.

3.1. Preparing the Door

Verify your door dimensions for compatibility:

  • Door Thickness: 1 3/8" to 1 3/4" (35mm to 44mm). For thicker doors up to 2 1/4" (57mm), a thick door kit may be required.
  • Face Bore Hole Diameter: 2 1/8" (54mm) or 1 1/2" (38mm).
  • Backset: 2 3/8" (60mm) or 2 3/4" (70mm).
  • Door Edge Bore Hole Diameter: 1" (25mm).

3.2. Installing the Bolt and Strike

Adjust the bolt length if necessary. Ensure the 'UP' icon on the bolt faces upwards. Secure the deadbolt into the door edge using Screw C. Install the strike plate into the door frame using appropriate screws (A, B, or C depending on your frame).

3.3. Installing the Exterior Assembly

If your door has a 1 1/2" bore hole, remove the spacer from the exterior assembly. Keep the tailpiece horizontal and pass it through the middle hole of the deadbolt. Route the cable through the gap below the bolt.

3.4. Installing the Mounting Plate

Pass the cable through the bottom hole of the mounting plate. Align the tailpiece with the middle hole. Secure the mounting plate to the exterior assembly using Screws D. Tighten screws evenly.

3.5. Installing the Interior Assembly

Remove the battery cover from the interior assembly. Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the socket on the interior assembly, ensuring the small teeth face up. Align the tailpiece with the hole in the interior assembly. Rotate the knob to a vertical position (unlocked). Attach the interior assembly to the mounting plate using Screws E.

3.6. Testing the Deadbolt

Rotate the knob a few times to ensure the bolt extends and retracts smoothly. Close the door and test again. The bolt should match the strike plate in the door frame without resistance.

3.7. Installing the Batteries and Performing Door Handing

This is a crucial step for the lock's operation. First, rotate the knob to a horizontal position (locked), which will extend the bolt. Insert the four AA batteries. The red LED light will turn on, and you will hear a beep. Then, install the battery cover.

3.8. Installing the Door Sensor

The door sensor should be mounted as close as possible to the edge of your door frame and to the bottom of the extended deadbolt. You can install it using the included sticker or Screw F. Ensure it is firmly pressed against the door frame.

4. Setup

4.1. U-tec App Setup

Download the U-tec App from your smartphone's app store. Follow the on-screen prompts to allow Bluetooth and notification access. Log in to your existing U-tec account or create a new one. The app will detect nearby ULTRALOQ devices. Select your ULTRALOQ Bolt Pro Z-Wave to begin the setup process.

4.2. Adding Admin, User Codes, and Fingerprints

Follow the app's instructions to set up an Admin Code (4-8 digits). This code is required for managing other users and settings. You can then add User Codes and Fingerprints for regular access. The app will guide you through the process of enrolling fingerprints by placing your finger on the reader from different angles.

4.3. Z-Wave Hub Connection

The ULTRALOQ Bolt Pro Z-Wave is compatible with Z-Wave Plus hubs such as Samsung SmartThings, Hubitat, and Ezlo (Vera). Ensure your Z-Wave hub is online and within communication range (100 feet) of the lock. Follow your hub's instructions to put it into pairing mode, then initiate pairing from the U-tec App. If your hub requires a QR code or 5-digit pin code, find it on the back of the battery cover of your smart lock.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Unlocking with Fingerprint

Place your registered fingerprint on the fingerprint reader. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.

5.2. Unlocking with Code

Enter your 4-8 digit user code on the keypad, then press the ULTRALOQ button to unlock. To lock, press the ULTRALOQ button again.

5.3. Unlocking with Key

To use the backup keys, pull the front panel from the bottom, then from the top to open it. Insert the key and rotate to unlock, just like a traditional deadbolt.

5.4. Auto Lock and Auto Unlock

The smart lock automatically locks if your door closes (detected by the door sensor) and unlocks when you arrive at your door with your smartphone in your pocket (Auto Unlock feature via app). By default, the lock will auto-lock after 30 seconds if left unlocked. This setting can be configured in the U-tec App.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

The lock is powered by four AA alkaline batteries. The U-tec App will provide low battery notifications. To replace, remove the interior assembly cover, replace the old batteries with new ones, and reattach the cover.

6.2. MicroUSB for Backup Power

In case the batteries are completely drained, you can use an external battery pack connected via the MicroUSB port on the exterior assembly to temporarily power the lock and gain access.

6.3. IP65 Waterproof Rating

The external smart lock is IP65 rated for dust and weather resistance, built to withstand temperatures from -22°F to 149°F (-30°C to 65°C).

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Resetting Your ULTRALOQ

To delete all user data or resolve certain issues, you may need to reset your ULTRALOQ to factory default settings. Use the reset needle to press the reset button (located on the interior assembly) for 3 seconds until you hear one long beep and two short beeps. All user data will be erased, and the lock will return to its original out-of-the-box settings.

7.2. Keypad/Fingerprint Not Working

If the keypad or fingerprint reader is not responding correctly, it might be due to a loose or disconnected wire. Remove the interior assembly cover and ensure all cables are securely connected. Refer to the video below for guidance on reconnecting wires.
