Setup and Installation
This section provides step-by-step instructions for installing your Roinvou car radio. It is recommended to watch the provided video for a visual guide.
Video 1: Detailed guide on disassembling the center console and wiring for the Roinvou car stereo installation.
1. Removing the Old Head Unit
- Access the Trim: Open the cubbyhole below the existing head unit. Gently pull the plastic trim surrounding the head unit away from the dashboard. It should start to come loose.
- Disconnect Trim Connectors: Once the trim is loose, disconnect any connectors attached to its back. Set the trim aside.
- Remove Head Unit Bolts: The existing head unit is secured by four 7mm bolts. Unscrew and remove these bolts.
- Slide Out Old Head Unit: Carefully slide the old head unit out of the dashboard.
- Disconnect Old Head Unit Plugs: Disconnect all wiring plugs from the back of the old head unit.
2. Connecting New Components
- Connect Jeep Loom: Grab the new wiring loom provided with the Roinvou unit. Connect the main Jeep connector from the new loom directly into the corresponding port in your vehicle's wiring harness.
- Connect Antenna Adapter: Plug the factory antenna connector from your vehicle into one side of the provided antenna adapter. The other side of the adapter connects to the generic antenna input on the new Roinvou unit's main loom.
- Connect CANbus Decoder: Locate the CANbus decoder (red box) and plug it into the designated connector on the main loom.
- Install GPS Antenna: Connect the GPS antenna to the new unit's wiring. Thread the GPS antenna cable up underneath the top of the dashboard, between the dashboard and the insulation, to ensure optimal signal reception and keep it out of the way.
- Install 5GHz WiFi Antenna: Connect the 5GHz WiFi antenna. Similar to the GPS antenna, thread this cable up underneath the dashboard, positioning it above the vents.
- Install External Microphone:
- Identify Access Points: For optimal microphone placement, identify access points in your dashboard. Two common points are underneath the steering wheel (behind a leather section) and behind the plastic panel when the driver's door is open.
- Thread Cable: Use a thick guide cable to thread the microphone wire from the main dashboard area to your chosen access point (e.g., A-pillar).
- Secure Microphone: Remove the foam from the microphone, tape the microphone end to the guide wire, and pull it through. Secure the microphone in the desired location (e.g., top corner of the A-pillar). Reattach the A-pillar trim, ensuring the rubber seal is correctly seated.
- Connect to Loom: Plug the 3.5mm jack of the microphone into the MIC input on the main loom.
- Install SIM Card Holder and USB Ports: The SIM card holder and USB ports can be hidden underneath the steering wheel or in the armrest for easy access when needed.

3. Assembling the New Unit and Fascia
- Attach Head Unit to Fascia: Carefully place the new Roinvou head unit into the provided fascia.
- Secure with Screws: Use the small screwdriver and screws provided in the ties packaging to secure the head unit to the fascia.
- Transfer Controls and Vents: Unscrew and remove the air conditioning controls, buttons, and air vents from your old factory fascia. Transfer these components to the new Roinvou fascia, securing them with the appropriate screws. Note: For proper fit, you may need to break off two small clips on the top of the old vents before installing them into the new fascia.
4. Final Installation
- Connect All Looms: Connect all remaining looms (power, CANbus, USB, microphone, antennas) to the back of the new Roinvou head unit. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Insert into Dashboard: Carefully slide the fully assembled Roinvou head unit and fascia into the dashboard opening. Ensure all wires are tucked away neatly and do not obstruct the unit.
- Secure Unit: Push the unit firmly into place until it clips securely into the dashboard.
