1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Soonkoda S8606 3-in-1 Handheld Anemometer. This device is designed for accurate measurement of wind speed, wind temperature, and wind level. It is suitable for various applications including electric power, steel, petrochemical, aviation, fan manufacturing, duct ventilation systems, and underground warehouses. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper operation and to extend the lifespan of your device.

2. Safety Information

4.1. Device Components

1. High Sensitivity Fan: Measures wind speed.
2. LCD Display: Shows wind speed, temperature, and other indicators.
3. UNIT Button: Cycles through wind speed units (m/s, Km/h, Kts, ft/s, mph).
4. Backlight/Data Hold Button: Toggles backlight (short press) or holds current data (long press).
5. Power Button: Turns the device ON/OFF.
6. RANGE Button: Cycles through MAX, MIN, and AVG wind speed readings.
7. °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit for temperature, and also cycles to wind level display.
8. Battery Compartment: Located on the back for AAA battery installation.

5. Setup: Battery Installation

The Soonkoda S8606 Anemometer requires 3 AAA batteries (included) for operation.

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Slide the cover downwards to open the compartment.
3. Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.
5. Before first use, gently peel off any protective film from the LCD screen.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power ON/OFF

• Press the Power Button () to turn the device ON. The LCD will perform a self-check and then display current readings.
• Press the Power Button again to turn the device OFF.
• The device features an automatic power-off function to conserve battery life if inactive for a period.

6.2. Changing Wind Speed Units

• Press the UNIT Button to cycle through the available wind speed units: meters per second (m/s), kilometers per hour (Km/h), knots (Kts), feet per second (ft/s), and miles per hour (mph).

6.3. Backlight and Data Hold

• Backlight: Short press the Backlight/Data Hold Button () to turn the LCD backlight ON or OFF.
• Data Hold: Long press the Backlight/Data Hold Button to freeze the current reading on the display. The "H" symbol will appear. Long press again to exit Data Hold mode.

6.4. MAX/MIN/AVG Readings

• Press the RANGE Button to cycle through Maximum (MAX), Minimum (MIN), and Average (AVG) wind speed readings.
• The corresponding indicator (MAX, MIN, or AVG) will appear on the LCD.

6.5. Temperature and Wind Level Display

• Press the °C/°F Button to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) for temperature display.
• A third press of the °C/°F Button will display the current wind level according to the Beaufort scale.

7. Wind Scale Reference (Beaufort Scale)

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
