Setup Instructions

Setting up your EZCast Compact Mate is a straightforward process:

  1. Connect the Receiver (RX) Unit:
    • Plug the HDMI connector of the Receiver (RX) unit into an available HDMI input port on your display device (TV, monitor, or projector).
    • Connect the USB power cable from the Receiver (RX) unit to a USB power source (e.g., a USB port on your TV, a USB wall adapter, or a power bank). Ensure the power source provides sufficient power (5V/1A recommended).
  2. Connect the Transmitter (TX) Unit:
    • Plug the HDMI connector of the Transmitter (TX) unit into the HDMI output port of your source device (laptop, PC, game console, camera, etc.).
    • Connect the USB power cable from the Transmitter (TX) unit to a USB power source on your source device or a separate power adapter.
  3. Power On and Pair:
    • Once both units are connected and powered, they will automatically attempt to pair. The LED indicators on both units will show their status (e.g., blinking during pairing, solid when connected).
    • Ensure your display device is set to the correct HDMI input channel where the Receiver (RX) unit is connected.
  4. Display Content:
    • After successful pairing, your source device's screen will be mirrored or extended to the display.

Operating Modes

The EZCast Compact Mate supports two primary display modes:

  • Mirror Mode:

In this mode, the content displayed on your source device's screen is duplicated onto the connected display. This is ideal for presentations, sharing videos, or showing photos to a larger audience.

  • Extend Mode:

Extend mode allows you to expand your desktop workspace across two screens. This is beneficial for multitasking, enabling you to work on one screen while referencing content or running another application on the extended display.

To switch between Mirror and Extend modes, you typically adjust the display settings on your source device (e.g., Windows Display Settings, macOS System Preferences > Displays).

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using your EZCast Compact Mate, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

No Signal on Display:
  • Ensure both the Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX) units are properly connected to their respective HDMI ports and are receiving adequate power via USB.
  • Verify that your display device is set to the correct HDMI input channel.
  • Try unplugging and re-plugging both units to re-establish the connection.
  • Check if the LED indicators on both units are solid, indicating a successful connection.
Intermittent Connection or Lag:
  • Reduce the distance between the transmitter and receiver. While designed for long range, obstacles (walls, furniture) can affect signal quality.
  • Minimize interference from other 5GHz wireless devices.
  • Ensure both units have stable power supply. Insufficient power can lead to unstable performance.
No Audio:
  • Check the audio output settings on your source device to ensure audio is being sent via HDMI.
  • Verify the volume levels on both your source device and the display.
Units Feel Warm:
  • It is normal for the units to become warm during operation, especially during prolonged use, due to power consumption and data processing. Ensure they are in a well-ventilated area and not covered. Excessive heat could indicate a power issue or environmental factor.
