5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Inspect the battery for any visible damage. Do not install if damaged.
- Ensure all included accessories are present.
- Verify that your charging system (charger, solar charge controller, inverter) is compatible with LiFePO4 batteries and supports 24V systems.
- Confirm that the cables and connectors you plan to use are appropriately sized for the expected current draw.
5.2 Installation Steps
- Choose a Location: Select a dry, well-ventilated area that is protected from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture. The IP65 rating provides protection, but optimal conditions prolong battery life.
- Secure the Battery: Place the battery on a stable, flat surface. If installing in a vehicle or marine environment, ensure it is securely fastened to prevent movement during operation.
- Connect Cables: Using the provided M8 screws and appropriate battery cables (not included), connect the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the positive (+) terminal of your load/charging system, and the negative (-) terminal of the battery to the negative (-) terminal of your load/charging system. Ensure connections are tight and secure.
- Insulate Terminals: Use the provided insulation caps to cover the terminals after connection to prevent accidental short circuits.
- System Integration: Connect your solar panels, inverter, or other components according to their respective manuals and system diagrams.

5.3 Parallel and Series Connections
The Litime 24V 230Ah LiFePO4 battery supports parallel connections for increased capacity and series connections for increased voltage, up to a 4P2S configuration (4 parallel, 2 series) for a maximum of 40 kWh capacity. When connecting multiple batteries:
- Ensure all batteries are of the same brand, model, and capacity.
- Charge all batteries to the same voltage level before connecting them in parallel or series.
- Use appropriate bus bars and cables for multi-battery configurations.
- Consult a qualified electrician or refer to detailed wiring diagrams for complex setups.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Charging the Battery
Use a dedicated LiFePO4 charger that is compatible with 24V systems. Recommended charging parameters:
- Charging Voltage: 28.8V - 29.2V
- Max Charging Current: 200A (C/1 rate)
- Recommended Charging Current: 40A - 115A (C/5 to C/2 rate)
- Operating Temperature for Charging: 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F)
If the battery enters an over-discharge protection state (0V), a lithium charger can be used to gently reactivate it.

6.2 Discharging the Battery
- Max Continuous Discharge Current: 200A
- Peak Discharge Current: 400A (for 3-5 seconds)
- Operating Temperature for Discharging: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)
The BMS will automatically cut off power if the battery is over-discharged, over-current, or experiences other fault conditions to protect the cells.

7. Maintenance
LiFePO4 batteries require minimal maintenance compared to lead-acid batteries. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean terminals if necessary.
- Temperature Management: Avoid operating or storing the battery in extreme temperatures. Ideal storage temperature is between 0°C and 25°C (32°F and 77°F).
- Storage: For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% State of Charge (SOC) and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge every 3-6 months if stored for extended periods.
- Cleaning: Use a dry cloth to wipe the battery case. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals.
- Avoid Deep Discharges: While the BMS protects against over-discharge, consistently avoiding very deep discharges can contribute to longer overall battery life.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Litime LiFePO4 battery, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Battery not charging | Charger incompatibility, loose connections, BMS protection activated (over-discharge) | Ensure charger is LiFePO4 compatible and 24V. Check all cable connections. If over-discharged (0V), use a compatible lithium charger to reactivate. |
| Battery not providing power | BMS protection activated (over-discharge, over-current, over-temperature), loose connections | Check battery voltage. If low, recharge. Reduce load if over-current. Allow battery to cool if over-temperature. Verify all connections. |
| Reduced capacity or runtime | Undercharging, extreme operating temperatures, aging | Ensure battery is fully charged. Operate within recommended temperature ranges. While LiFePO4 batteries have long lifespans, capacity will gradually decrease over many years of use. |
| Unusual heat during operation | Over-current, poor ventilation, internal fault | Reduce load. Ensure adequate ventilation around the battery. If excessive heat persists, discontinue use and contact support. |
