Setup

Follow these steps to set up your PRORECK SP-15X subwoofer:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the subwoofer from its packaging. Inspect for any damage during shipping.
  2. Placement: Position the subwoofer on a stable, flat surface. For optimal bass response, consider placing it in a corner or near a wall. The unit is designed for floor-standing use.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided AC power cable to the AC input on the rear panel of the subwoofer and then to a suitable grounded power outlet.
  4. Audio Input: Connect your audio source (e.g., mixer, pre-amplifier) to the XLR input jacks on the rear panel. Use high-quality XLR cables for best performance.
  5. Audio Output (Optional): If connecting to full-range speakers, use XLR cables from the XLR high pass output jacks on the subwoofer to the inputs of your full-range speakers. This will send frequencies above 120Hz to your main speakers.
  6. Speaker Pole Mounting (Optional): The subwoofer features a pole mount socket on its top panel. A compatible speaker pole can be inserted here to elevate a full-range speaker above the subwoofer.

Operating

  1. Power On: After all connections are made, flip the POWER switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The power indicator LED will illuminate.
  2. Volume Adjustment: Slowly turn the VOLUME knob clockwise to increase the subwoofer's output level. Adjust to a comfortable listening level.
  3. DSP Preset Selection: Use the DSP PRESETS switch to cycle through the available sound modes: 'Monitor' for general playback or 'DJ Live' for enhanced bass in performance settings.
  4. Signal and Limit Indicators: Observe the 'SIGNAL' LED to confirm an audio signal is present. If the 'LIMIT' LED flashes frequently or stays lit, reduce the volume to prevent distortion and potential damage.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the cabinet with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the cooling fan and ventilation grilles on the rear panel are free from dust and obstructions. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the subwoofer in a cool, dry place, ideally in its original packaging or a protective cover.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check all audio and power cables for signs of wear or damage. Replace any faulty cables immediately.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound Output:
    • Verify the subwoofer is powered on and the power LED is lit.
    • Check all audio cables (XLR) for secure connections at both the subwoofer and the audio source.
    • Ensure the volume knob on the subwoofer is turned up.
    • Confirm the audio source is active and sending a signal.
  • Distorted or Unclear Sound:
    • Reduce the volume level on the subwoofer and your audio source.
    • Check if the 'LIMIT' LED is frequently flashing or constantly lit; if so, reduce the input signal or volume.
    • Ensure all cables are in good condition and not damaged.
    • Try a different DSP preset to see if it improves sound quality for your specific content.
  • Subwoofer Overheating:
    • Ensure there is adequate space around the subwoofer for proper ventilation.
    • Check that the cooling fan on the rear panel is operating and not obstructed.
    • Reduce the operating volume, especially during prolonged use.
