3. Installation Guide

3.1 Pre-Installation Considerations

Before installing, it is crucial to determine the optimal location for your antenna. Signal reception can be affected by distance to broadcast towers, terrain, and obstructions like trees or building materials. Use the free Antenna Point app to identify local TV towers and signal strength in your area.

3.2 Assembly

Follow the detailed instructions provided in the packaging for quick-connect assembly of the antenna elements to the main unit. Ensure all connections are secure.

3.3 Mounting Options

The ClearStream MAX-XR antenna is designed for versatile installation:

  • Outdoor Mounting: The included 20-inch mast with a pivoting base allows for installation on various horizontal or vertical outdoor surfaces, such as a roof, fascia board, or side of the house. Higher mounting generally improves reception.
  • Attic Mounting: For discreet installation, the antenna can be mounted in an attic. Ensure adequate ventilation and consider potential signal attenuation from roofing materials.
  • Indoor Mounting: While primarily an outdoor/attic antenna, it can be used indoors in areas with strong signal.

3.4 Connecting to Your TV

  1. Connect the coaxial cable from the antenna to the Jolt Switch amplifier.
  2. Connect the output of the Jolt Switch amplifier to the 'IN' port of the 3-way splitter.
  3. Connect coaxial cables from the 'OUT' ports of the splitter to the antenna/cable input on up to three televisions.
  4. Plug the Jolt Switch amplifier into a power outlet.

4. Operation

4.1 Performing a Channel Scan

After installation and connection, perform a channel scan on each connected television:

  1. Access your TV's menu or settings.
  2. Navigate to 'Channel Setup' or 'Antenna Setup'.
  3. Select 'Antenna' or 'Air' as the signal source (not 'Cable').
  4. Initiate an 'Auto Scan' or 'Auto Program' for channels. This process may take several minutes.

The antenna's multi-directional design allows it to receive signals from various directions without needing to be rotated, simplifying the channel scanning process.

4.2 Jolt Switch Amplifier

The included Jolt Switch amplifier boosts weak signals to improve reception quality. You can control when TV signals need a boost, optimizing performance based on your specific signal environment.

4.3 Compatibility

This antenna is fully compatible with current and future broadcast standards, including NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0), and delivers content in 4K, 8K UHD, and Full HD 1080p resolutions where available.

5. Maintenance

The ClearStream MAX-XR antenna is constructed from durable, weather-resistant materials designed for long-term outdoor use. Minimal maintenance is required:

  • Periodically inspect the antenna and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loosening, especially after severe weather.
  • Ensure coaxial cable connections remain tight and free from moisture.
  • Gently clean the antenna elements if excessive dirt or debris accumulates, using a soft cloth and mild detergent if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with signal reception, consider the following:

  • No Signal or Pixelation: Re-run a channel scan on your TV. Adjust the antenna's position slightly and re-scan. Ensure the Jolt Switch amplifier is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Fewer Channels Than Expected: Verify the antenna is pointed generally towards the broadcast towers using the Antenna Point app. Obstructions between the antenna and towers can significantly impact reception.
  • Intermittent Signal Loss: Check all coaxial cable connections for tightness and damage. Ensure the amplifier is securely connected and powered.
  • Weather Interference: Heavy rain, snow, or strong winds can temporarily affect signal quality. Reception should improve once weather conditions clear.

Remember that an antenna cannot provide cable TV channels; it receives free over-the-air broadcasts only.
