Product Overview
The Alpine S2-S40 Next-Generation S-Series 4-inch Coaxial Speaker Set is designed to deliver high-quality audio performance. These speakers are Hi-Res Audio Certified, capable of reproducing frequencies up to 40kHz for accurate and natural sound reproduction.
Constructed with a unique blend of Poly Propylene, Glass Fiber, and Mica Cone materials, the S2-S40 speakers offer a lightweight design, high output, and minimal distortion, contributing to a clean and precise audio experience.
The integrated Alpine-exclusive High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) surround technology facilitates maximum cone movement, which is essential for producing powerful and accurate bass notes. Despite their compact 4-inch woofer size and integrated 3/4-inch tweeters, these speakers can handle a maximum peak power of 140W and a maximum RMS power of 45W, ensuring robust audio delivery.
The S2-S40 speakers are engineered for straightforward installation, making them suitable for upgrading existing car audio systems.

Installation Guide
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present according to the product's packing list. Keep the packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Mounting
Select a suitable mounting location in your vehicle, typically in door panels or dashboard. Ensure the chosen location provides adequate clearance for the speaker's depth and diameter. Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the speakers firmly. Avoid over-tightening screws, which can damage the speaker frame.

3. Wiring
Connect the speaker wires to the appropriate terminals on the speaker and your car's audio system or amplifier. Observe correct polarity: connect the positive (+) terminal of the speaker to the positive output of the amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal to the negative output. Incorrect polarity can lead to reduced sound quality and phase issues.
- Positive Connection: Typically marked with a red wire or a '+' symbol.
- Negative Connection: Typically marked with a black wire or a '-' symbol.
Ensure all connections are secure to prevent intermittent sound or short circuits. If connecting to an external amplifier, refer to the amplifier's manual for specific wiring instructions and gain settings.

Operation
1. Initial Power-Up
After installation, turn on your car's audio system. Start with the volume at its lowest setting. Gradually increase the volume to confirm that sound is being produced clearly from both speakers. Listen for any unusual noises or distortions.
2. Audio Adjustments
Adjust the balance and fade settings on your head unit to ensure sound is evenly distributed. Utilize the equalizer (EQ) settings to fine-tune the audio to your preference. Avoid excessively boosting bass or treble, which can lead to distortion or speaker damage at high volumes.
Care and Maintenance
1. Cleaning
To clean the speakers, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the speaker cones and surrounds.
2. General Care
Protect the speakers from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and excessive moisture. Ensure that no foreign objects fall into the speaker grilles. Regular inspection for loose connections or physical damage is recommended.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound from speakers | Loose or incorrect wiring; audio source issue; amplifier off or faulty. | Check all wiring connections for proper polarity and security. Verify audio source is playing. Ensure amplifier is powered on and functioning correctly. |
| Distorted or unclear sound | Volume too high; incorrect amplifier gain settings; damaged speaker; poor audio source quality. | Reduce volume. Adjust amplifier gain to match head unit output. Test with a different audio source. Inspect speakers for physical damage. |
| Intermittent sound | Loose wiring connection; faulty speaker wire. | Inspect all speaker wire connections for looseness. Replace damaged speaker wires. |
