2. Positioning the Device
The D8 APEX can be positioned in various ways depending on your application:
- On a Flat Surface: Place the laser level directly on a stable, flat surface.
- Tripod Mounting: Use the integrated tripod thread (usually 1/4-inch or 5/8-inch) to mount the device onto a tripod for adjustable height and precise positioning.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Mode Selection
The device typically has a sliding switch or a power button to turn it on and off, and to select between self-leveling and manual modes.
- Self-Leveling Mode: Slide the switch to the unlocked position. The laser will automatically level itself within its specified range (e.g., ±3°). If the device is outside its leveling range, the laser lines may flash rapidly to indicate an out-of-level condition.
- Manual Mode (Locked Mode): Slide the switch to the locked position. In this mode, the self-leveling function is deactivated, allowing you to project laser lines at any desired angle. This is useful for tasks like installing handrails or decorative patterns.

2. Laser Line and Plumb Dot Selection
The D8 APEX allows you to switch between different laser line configurations:
- Press the "V" button to activate/deactivate vertical lines.
- Press the "H" button to activate/deactivate horizontal lines.
- Press both "V" and "H" to project cross lines.
- The device also features two plumb dots (up and down) for precise point transfer.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the laser windows and the device body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, store the laser level in its original carrying case in a dry, dust-free environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to about 50% and recharge every few months.
- Calibration Check: Periodically check the accuracy of the laser level. If you suspect it's out of calibration, refer to the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
Troubleshooting
