4. Operating the Helmet
Familiarize yourself with the various features and controls of your Advant X Carbon helmet.
4.1 Modular System
The Advant X features a 180-degree modular system, allowing the chin bar to flip completely to the rear of the helmet. This provides the flexibility of an open-face helmet while maintaining the option for full-face protection. To operate, locate the release mechanism on the chin bar, activate it, and pivot the chin bar upwards and backward until it locks into place.

4.2 Face Shield (Visor)
The "A Class" polycarbonate face shield is optically correct, scratch-resistant, and UV-resistant. It features a quick-release mechanism for easy removal and replacement. The helmet includes a Pinlock insert for fog resistance.
- Opening/Closing: Use the tab located on the top center of the face shield to raise or lower it.
- Removal/Installation: Consult the quick-release mechanism instructions provided with your helmet for detailed steps on removing and installing the face shield.
- Pinlock Insert: The included Pinlock insert should be installed on the inside of the face shield according to the Pinlock instructions to prevent fogging.

4.3 Built-in Sun Shield
A retractable internal sun shield is integrated into the helmet for convenience. Operate the sun shield using the slider mechanism located on the side of the helmet.
4.4 Ventilation System
The helmet features a fully adjustable, multi-port dynamic flow-through ventilation system with channeled EPS to keep you cool. Locate the various vents (e.g., chin, top, rear exhaust) and adjust them as needed for airflow.
4.5 Chin Strap
The DOT-approved micrometric quick-release chin strap ensures a secure and easy closure. To fasten, insert the tab into the buckle until it clicks. To release, pull the red tab to disengage the mechanism.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will prolong the life and effectiveness of your helmet.
5.1 Liner Care
The removable technical fabric liner is designed to keep you cool and can be washed. Carefully remove the liner components (cheek pads, comfort liner) according to the instructions provided with your helmet. Hand wash with mild soap and water, then air dry completely before reinstallation.
5.2 Face Shield Cleaning
Clean the face shield with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap or a specialized helmet visor cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that can scratch or damage the shield's coating. For the Pinlock insert, follow its specific cleaning instructions.
5.3 Shell Cleaning
Clean the carbon fiber shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Do not use petroleum-based products, solvents, or harsh cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common concerns you might encounter with your helmet.
6.1 Fit Issues
- Helmet feels too tight: Ensure you have selected the correct size based on the sizing chart. Remember this helmet runs small, so consider sizing up if you are between sizes or have a rounder head shape. The liner will break in slightly over time, but it should not be uncomfortably tight initially.
- Helmet feels too loose: A loose helmet compromises safety. Re-check your head measurement against the sizing chart. If the helmet is too large, it must be replaced with a smaller size.
6.2 Visor Fogging
If your visor fogs, ensure the Pinlock insert is correctly installed and sealed against the main face shield. If fogging persists, ensure adequate ventilation by opening helmet vents.
