1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

Operating a chainsaw can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not followed. Always prioritize your safety and the safety of others.

General Safety Rules:

• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
• Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders, children, and pets.
• Inspect the chainsaw before each use for any damage, loose parts, or leaks.
• Do not operate the chainsaw in wet conditions or in the presence of flammable liquids or gases.
• Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw handles.
• Be aware of kickback and how to avoid it.

4. Assembly and Setup

4.1. Battery Charging and Installation

1. Insert the V20 Lithium Ion Battery into the V20 Lithium Ion Charger.
2. Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.
3. Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger.
4. Align the charged battery with the battery port on the chainsaw handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.

4.2. Bar and Chain Installation (if not pre-assembled)

1. Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
2. Remove the side cover using the provided wrench.
3. Carefully place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face the correct direction.
4. Position the guide bar onto the chainsaw studs.
5. Replace the side cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.

4.3. Filling Bar and Chain Oil

The chainsaw features an auto-oiling system that requires bar and chain oil for continuous lubrication.

1. Ensure the chainsaw is on a level surface and the battery is removed.
2. Locate the oil reservoir cap, typically on the top or side of the chainsaw body.
3. Unscrew the cap and carefully pour STP Premium Bar & Chain Oil into the reservoir until it reaches the fill line.
4. Replace the cap securely.

5. Operation

5.1. Starting the Chainsaw

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely installed.
2. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands.
3. Engage the safety lock-off button (if present) and then depress the trigger switch to start the motor.

5.2. Cutting Techniques

• Always stand in a balanced position.
• Allow the chain to reach full speed before contacting the material.
• Use the bottom of the guide bar for cutting, pushing the chainsaw into the wood.
• Be mindful of pinching and kickback.
• For larger branches, make an undercut first to prevent splintering.

5.3. Battery Usage

The V20 2.0Ah battery provides power for various tasks. Battery life will vary depending on the cutting load and material. Recharge the battery when power diminishes.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Chain Tensioning

The chainsaw features Bolt Lock Chain Tensioning for reliable bar clamping. Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation.

1. Remove the battery.
2. Loosen the side cover nuts slightly with the wrench.
3. Adjust the chain tensioning screw until the chain is snug against the guide bar but can still be pulled freely by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the bar.
4. Retighten the side cover nuts securely.

6.2. Bar and Chain Lubrication

The auto-oiling feature ensures continuous lubrication. Regularly check the oil level in the reservoir and refill with STP Premium Bar & Chain Oil as needed. This oil is formulated with anti-wear additives to reduce bar and chain wear and a tackifier to help reduce high-speed oil throw-off, minimizing resin buildup for smoother cuts.

6.3. Cleaning

• After each use, remove the battery and clean the chainsaw.
• Use a brush or compressed air to remove sawdust and debris from the motor housing, chain, and guide bar.
• Wipe down exterior surfaces with a damp cloth.

Chainsaw Does Not Start:
