1. Safety Information
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this air compressor. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
1.1 General Safety Warnings
- Always wear ANSI Z87.1 compliant eye protection with side shields when operating or servicing the air compressor.
- Ensure the work area is clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate the air compressor in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating the air compressor. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
- Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
- Do not overreach.
1.2 Electrical Safety
- The air compressor must be properly grounded. Never remove the grounding prong from the plug.
- Do not expose the air compressor to rain or wet conditions. Water entering an air compressor will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the air compressor. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts.
- Use only extension cords rated for outdoor use and suitable for the amperage of the compressor.
1.3 Air Compressor Specific Safety
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 200 PSI.
- Never attempt to repair or modify the pressure relief valve. This valve is factory set to prevent over-pressurization.
- Drain condensation from the tank daily to prevent rust and tank failure.
- The air compressor pump and motor generate heat during operation. Avoid touching hot surfaces.
- Always disconnect power before performing maintenance or repairs.
- Ensure adequate ventilation when operating.

3.3 Initial Oil Fill/Check
This air compressor is oil-lubed. Ensure the oil level is correct before first use.
- Locate the oil fill plug and dipstick on the pump.
- Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.
- If low, add appropriate compressor oil (refer to specifications for type) until the correct level is reached. Do not overfill.
- Replace the dipstick securely.
3.4 Electrical Connection
- Ensure the power switch is in the "OFF" position.
- Connect the power cord to a properly grounded 120V, 60Hz electrical outlet.
- Avoid using undersized or excessively long extension cords, as this can cause voltage drop and motor damage.
4. Operating Instructions
This section details the steps for operating your DEWALT air compressor.
4.1 Starting the Compressor
- Ensure the drain valve at the bottom of the tank is closed.
- Turn the power switch to the "AUTO" position. The motor will start, and the tank will begin to fill with air.
- Allow the compressor to build up to its maximum pressure (200 PSI) and then shut off automatically. This indicates proper function of the pressure switch.

4.2 Adjusting Air Pressure
- Connect your air tool to the quick-connect coupler.
- Turn the regulator knob clockwise to increase pressure or counter-clockwise to decrease pressure.
- Monitor the regulated output pressure gauge to set the desired pressure for your tool.

4.3 Connecting Air Tools
- Ensure the air tool is rated for the pressure you intend to use.
- Push the collar of the quick-connect coupler back, insert the air tool's plug, and release the collar to secure.
- Always ensure connections are secure before operating tools.
4.4 Shutting Down
- Turn the power switch to the "OFF" position.
- Disconnect air tools and hoses.
- Slowly open the drain valve at the bottom of the tank to release all air pressure. This also drains condensation.
- Once pressure is at zero, close the drain valve.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your air compressor. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
5.1 Daily Maintenance
- Drain Condensation: Open the drain valve at the bottom of the tank to release accumulated moisture. Close it securely after draining.
5.2 Weekly/Monthly Maintenance
- Check Oil Level: Ensure the oil level is between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
- Clean Air Filter: Remove and clean the air filter element. Replace if damaged or excessively dirty.
- Inspect Belt: Check the drive belt for tension and wear. Adjust or replace if needed.
