Setup and Installation
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove all packaging materials, including foam and adhesive tape. Inspect the unit for any shipping damage. Keep packaging materials until you are satisfied with the product's condition. It is recommended to clean the interior and exterior of the unit before first use.
2. Placement
Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight and heat sources (e.g., stoves, heaters). Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Allow at least 5 inches (12.7 cm) of space on the back and sides for proper air circulation. This unit can be installed under a counter or used as a freestanding appliance.

3. Leveling
The unit is equipped with adjustable leveling legs. Adjust these legs to ensure the appliance is level. A level unit operates more efficiently and prevents door alignment issues.
4. Power Connection
Before plugging in, allow the unit to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours. This allows the refrigerant to settle. Connect the appliance to a dedicated, grounded 115V AC outlet. Do not use extension cords or adapter plugs.
5. Reversible Door Installation
The doors are reversible, allowing you to change the swing direction to suit your space. Refer to the detailed diagrams in the included printed manual for specific instructions on reversing the door hinges. This process typically involves removing hinge pins, relocating hinges, and reattaching the doors.
Operating Instructions
1. Initial Startup
After connecting to power, allow the unit to run for approximately 24 hours before loading with items. This ensures the internal temperatures stabilize.
2. Temperature Control
The WATOOR JCD-80 features independent temperature control for its two zones:
- Upper Wine Cooler Zone: Temperature range is 40-61°F (4-16°C). Use the mechanical temperature control dial located inside the upper compartment to adjust the desired temperature.
- Lower Freezer Zone: Temperature range is -4-14°F (-20- -10°C). This zone also has a separate mechanical temperature control.
Turn the dial towards higher numbers for colder temperatures and lower numbers for warmer temperatures. Monitor the internal temperature with a separate thermometer if precise readings are required.

3. Interior Light
The unit features an interior light for visibility. This light can be manually turned on or off via a switch located near the temperature control in the upper compartment.
4. Loading the Unit
Ensure bottles and frozen items are placed to allow for proper air circulation. Do not overload shelves, as this can impede cooling performance. The upper zone has a capacity for 11 standard wine bottles on wire shelving. The lower freezer zone provides ample space for various frozen foods.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Interior: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Wash the interior surfaces with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals. Removable shelves can be washed separately.
Exterior: Clean the exterior with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid getting water on electrical components. Regularly wipe down the door seals to ensure a tight seal.
2. Defrosting
This unit features manual defrost. Frost buildup in the freezer compartment is normal. When frost accumulates to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thickness, it is recommended to defrost the unit. To defrost:
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Remove all contents from both compartments.
- Leave the doors open to allow frost to melt naturally. Place towels at the bottom to absorb water.
- Once defrosted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly before reconnecting power and reloading items.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not operate | No power; power cord unplugged; circuit breaker tripped. | Check power connection; ensure outlet is functional; reset circuit breaker. |
| Temperature is not cold enough | Temperature setting too high; door not closed properly; excessive door openings; unit overloaded; poor ventilation. | Adjust temperature setting; ensure door is sealed; reduce door openings; do not overload; ensure adequate space around unit. |
| Excessive noise | Unit not level; contact with wall/cabinet; normal compressor operation. | Adjust leveling legs; move unit away from obstructions; slight humming is normal. |
| Water on floor | Drain pan overflowing; door not sealed. | Check and empty drain pan if applicable; ensure door seal is intact. |
