Setup Guide

Connectivity Modes

The EP84 Plus supports three modes of connection: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz Wireless, and USB-C Wired.

1. USB-C Wired Connection

  1. Locate the USB-C port on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the keyboard and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard to wired mode by pressing Fn + 5. The keyboard will be recognized automatically by your operating system.

2. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the 2.4GHz USB receiver, typically stored in a magnetic slot on the keyboard's underside.
  2. Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard to 2.4GHz mode by pressing Fn + 4. The keyboard should connect automatically.

3. Bluetooth 5.0 Connection

  1. Ensure the keyboard is powered on.
  2. Press Fn + 1, Fn + 2, or Fn + 3 to select a Bluetooth channel. The indicator light will flash, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your device (computer, tablet, smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for "EPOMAKER EP84 Plus".
  4. Select the keyboard to pair. Once connected, the indicator light will stop flashing.
  5. To switch between paired Bluetooth devices, press Fn + 1/2/3.

Operating Instructions

Basic Functions

  • Fn Key: Used in combination with other keys to access secondary functions.
  • NKRO (N-Key Rollover): The keyboard supports NKRO, allowing all keys to be registered simultaneously without ghosting.

RGB Lighting Control

The EP84 Plus features customizable RGB lighting effects. Use the following key combinations to control the lighting:

  • Fn + Space: Turn On/Off Backlights.
  • Fn + \|: Toggle RGB Effects (cycle through various lighting modes).
  • Fn + =+: Change Backlight Colors (for static modes).
  • Fn + ↑: Increase Backlights Brightness.
  • Fn + ↓: Decrease Backlights Brightness.
  • Fn + →: Increase Backlights Speed (for dynamic modes).
  • Fn + ←: Decrease Backlights Speed (for dynamic modes).
  • Fn + Esc (Hold 3s): Reset the keyboard to factory default settings.

Battery Status Check

To check the current battery level, press Fn + Backspace. The indicator lights will show the approximate battery percentage.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the keycaps and chassis.
  • For dust and debris between keycaps, use compressed air.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Hot-Swappable Switches

The EP84 Plus features a 5-pin/3-pin hot-swappable PCB, allowing you to change mechanical switches without soldering. This enables easy customization of typing feel and sound.

  1. Using the provided 2-in-1 keycap/switch puller, gently remove the keycap from the switch.
  2. Insert the switch puller around the switch, pressing the clips on the top and bottom.
  3. Gently pull the switch straight up to remove it.
  4. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  5. Press the new switch firmly into place until it clicks.
  6. Reattach the keycap.

PBT Keycaps

The keyboard comes with high-quality dye-sublimation PBT keycaps, which are resistant to shine, wear, and oils, ensuring long-lasting appearance and feel.

Troubleshooting
