4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your inverter. It is recommended that installation be performed by a certified technician.

1. Unpacking: Carefully unpack the inverter and inspect for any damage. Report any damage to your dealer immediately.
2. Placement: Place the inverter in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for airflow.
3. Battery Connection:
   • Ensure the inverter is OFF before connecting batteries.
   • Connect the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the positive (+VE) terminal on the inverter.
   • Connect the negative (-) terminal of the battery to the negative (-VE) terminal on the inverter.
   • Tighten all battery terminal connections securely.
4. Mains Power Connection: Plug the inverter's mains cord into a properly grounded wall outlet.
5. Appliance Connection: Plug your appliances into the output socket(s) on the rear panel of the inverter. Do not exceed the inverter's rated load capacity.
6. Battery Type Selection: Use the 4-mode selector switch on the rear panel to select the correct battery type (Flat Plate, Tubular, SMF, or LOCAL) for your connected battery. This optimizes charging.
7. Initial Power On: After all connections are secure, switch the inverter ON using the power button on the front panel.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off

• To Power On: Press the Power ON/OFF switch on the front panel. The "Power ON" indicator will illuminate.
• To Power Off: Press the Power ON/OFF switch again. All indicators will turn off.

5.2. Mode Selection (UPS/ECO)

The inverter offers two operating modes:

• UPS Mode: Provides a continuous, stable power supply, ideal for sensitive electronic appliances like computers, laptops, and LED TVs. In this mode, the transfer time from mains to battery power is minimal. The "UPS ON" indicator will be lit.
• ECO Mode: Designed for extended backup time and less sensitive appliances. In this mode, the transfer time is slightly longer, but it optimizes battery usage. The "Eco Mode" indicator will be lit.

Use the UPS/ECO Mode Selection switch on the rear panel to toggle between these modes.

5.3. Indicator Lights

The front panel LEDs provide status information:

• Mains ON: Indicates that the inverter is receiving power from the utility grid.
• Charging: Indicates that the battery is currently being charged.
• UPS ON: Indicates the inverter is operating in UPS mode.
• Inverter ON/Overload/Short Circuit: Indicates the inverter is supplying power. If flashing or accompanied by an alarm, it may indicate an overload or short circuit.
• Low Battery: Indicates the battery charge is low and requires recharging. The inverter will switch off automatically if the battery level drops too low.
• Eco Mode: Indicates the inverter is operating in ECO mode.
• Power ON: Indicates the inverter is powered on.

6. Maintenance

The Livguard LG1450i Inverter is designed for low maintenance. However, following these guidelines will ensure optimal performance and extend its lifespan.

• Cleaning: Keep the inverter clean and free from dust. Use a dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
• Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.
• Battery Care:
  • Regularly check battery water levels if using a flooded lead-acid battery (as per battery manufacturer's instructions).
  • The Smart AI Charging feature helps maintain battery health by preventing overcharging.
  • Ensure battery terminals are clean and free from corrosion.
• Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections for tightness and signs of wear.
• Storage: If storing the inverter for an extended period, ensure the battery is fully charged and disconnect it from the inverter. Recharge the battery every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
