4. Assembly Instructions
Assembly requires two adults. Follow the steps below. An Allen wrench is typically provided. A Phillips head screwdriver may also be needed (not included).
- Unpack and Identify: Carefully unpack all components and lay them out on a clean, soft surface (e.g., a rug or blanket) to prevent scratches. Identify each part using the provided parts list and diagrams.
- Assemble Daybed Frame: Attach the side rails to the headboard and footboard using the provided bolts and an Allen wrench. Do not fully tighten bolts until the entire frame is assembled.
- Install Guardrails: Secure the guardrails to the daybed frame as indicated in the specific assembly diagram. Ensure they are firmly attached.
- Assemble Trundle Frame: Assemble the trundle frame components, including attaching the wheels to the bottom of the trundle.
- Insert Slats: Place the wooden slats onto the support rails of both the daybed and the trundle. For the daybed slats, while pre-drilled holes are not always present, ensure even spacing and secure attachment. Some users may opt to drill pilot holes for screws to prevent stripping and ensure secure placement.
- Final Tightening: Once all components are in place and aligned, fully tighten all bolts and screws. Do not overtighten.
- Position Trundle: Slide the assembled trundle unit under the daybed.

5. Operating Instructions
Using the Daybed:
Place a twin-size mattress directly onto the daybed slats. Ensure the mattress fits securely within the guardrails. The daybed is ready for use as a seating area or a primary sleeping surface.
Using the Trundle Bed:
- To extend the trundle, gently pull the trundle unit out from under the daybed using the designated handle or edge. The wheels will allow it to roll smoothly.
- Place a twin-size mattress onto the trundle slats.
- To retract the trundle, remove the mattress (if necessary for clearance) and gently push the trundle unit back under the daybed until it is fully stored.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the wood surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or polishes that may damage the finish.
- Hardware Checks: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) inspect all bolts, screws, and connections. Tighten any loose hardware to maintain structural integrity and safety.
- Avoid Moisture: Protect the daybed from excessive moisture and direct sunlight to prevent warping or fading of the wood.
- Trundle Wheels: Keep trundle wheels free of debris to ensure smooth operation. Lubricate with a silicone-based spray if rolling becomes difficult.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Daybed feels wobbly or unstable. | Loose hardware connections. | Check and tighten all bolts and screws. Ensure the daybed is on a level surface. |
| Squeaking noises during use. | Loose hardware or friction between wood components. | Tighten all hardware. Apply a small amount of paraffin wax or silicone spray to contact points between wood pieces or where slats rest on supports. |
| Trundle is difficult to pull out or push in. | Debris in wheels, damaged wheels, or misalignment. | Clean wheels of any obstructions. Check if wheels are damaged and replace if necessary. Ensure the trundle frame is not warped or misaligned. |
| Slats appear uneven or shift. | Slats not properly secured or spaced. | Ensure slats are evenly spaced and securely fastened to the support rails. If not pre-drilled, consider adding screws to secure them. |
