2. Safety Guidelines
- Read all instructions carefully before installation and use.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the lock. This may void the warranty and compromise security.
- Use only the specified 4*AA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
- Keep mechanical keys in a secure location outside the property, accessible only in emergencies.

4. Installation Guide
The Hopeace D4 Smart Lock is designed for easy installation without the need for drilling, typically taking 10-15 minutes with a screwdriver. It is suitable for most standard doors with a thickness of 1-3/8" to 2-11/64" (35mm-55mm) and a backset of 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm).
4.1 Door Compatibility and Dimensions

4.2 Installation Steps
- Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has a standard hole (approximately 2-1/8" or 54mm) and the correct backset.
- Install the Latch: Insert the latch into the door edge. Ensure the latch bolt faces the door frame. Secure with screws.
- Install the Exterior Assembly: Pass the cable and spindle through the door hole. Align the exterior assembly with the latch.
- Install the Interior Assembly: Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the interior assembly. Ensure the cable jack's snap is at the top. The torque blade must be horizontal through the hole. The lock switch on the interior assembly must be vertical (unlocked state) during installation. Secure the interior assembly to the exterior assembly with screws.
- Install Batteries: Open the battery cover on the interior assembly and insert the 4*AA batteries, observing polarity.
- Test the Lock: After installation, test the mechanical key and ensure the latch operates smoothly.

4.3 Handle Direction Adjustment
The Hopeace D4 lock features an upgraded handle suitable for both left-handed and right-handed door openings. To automatically match the opening direction (left door or right door), press the "7" button followed by the "lock" button on the keypad. The lock will adjust its internal mechanism accordingly.
5. Operating Instructions
The Hopeace D4 Smart Lock offers five convenient ways to unlock your door:

5.1 Fingerprint Unlocking
The lock features advanced 3D fingerprint technology, allowing unlocking in approximately 0.2 seconds. It can store 50-100 sets of fingerprints. To add fingerprints, follow the instructions in the mobile app.
5.2 Digital Code Unlocking
Enter your registered digital code on the touchscreen keypad. The lock supports an anti-snooping function: you can enter random numbers (up to 20 digits) before or after your correct password, and the door will still unlock. This prevents others from guessing your code by observing your hand movements.
5.3 App Control (Tuya App)
The Hopeace D4 lock connects to the Tuya Smart app via Bluetooth (no bridge required). The app allows for remote management of users, viewing real-time unlocking records, and generating dynamic passcodes.

5.4 IC Card / NFC Unlocking
The lock comes with IC cards that can be bound via the Tuya app. Once bound, you can unlock the door by tapping the IC card on the lock's sensor. Additionally, if your phone has NFC functionality and is bound to an IC card in the app, you can use your phone's NFC to unlock the door.
5.5 Mechanical Key Unlocking
In case of battery depletion or electronic malfunction, you can always use the provided mechanical keys to unlock the door. Insert the key into the keyhole and turn to unlock.
5.6 Advanced Features
- Auto-Lock: The lock can be set to automatically lock after a set period once the door is closed. This feature enhances security.
- Dynamic Passcode: Generate temporary dynamic codes through the Tuya app to provide access to guests or service personnel without sharing your permanent code.
- Emergency Power: If the batteries are completely drained, you can connect a USB power bank to the emergency charging port on the exterior assembly to temporarily power the lock and gain entry.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that may damage the finish or electronic components.
- Battery Replacement: The lock will provide a low battery alarm when power is running low. Replace all four AA batteries promptly. Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check that all screws are tight and the lock operates smoothly.
7. Troubleshooting
