3. What's in the Box
Upon unpacking, you should find the following component:
- 1 x ApisQueen 2828 Brushless Waterproof Motor
Note: Additional components such as ESC, UBEC, receiver, remote control, and battery are typically required for a complete thruster system and are sold separately.
4. Setup and Wiring
Proper wiring is crucial for the safe and correct operation of your ApisQueen motor. The following steps outline the general connection process for an underwater thruster system. Refer to the video demonstration for a visual guide.
- Connect Motor to ESC: Connect the motor's three-phase wires to the three wires of the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). If the rotation direction is incorrect during testing, simply swap the order of any two wires to reverse the rotation direction.
- Connect Adapter Cable: Connect the adapter cable to the UBEC (Universal Battery Eliminator Circuit) and the ESC.
- Connect ESC Signal to Receiver: Insert the ESC signal wire, with the copper-plated side facing right, into the receiver's channel 1-2.
- Connect UBEC Output to Receiver: Insert the UBEC output terminal, with the copper-exposed side facing right, into the receiver's channels 3-6.
- Power On Remote Control: Turn on your remote control. You should hear an audible signal indicating successful power-on.
- Connect Power Supply: Connect the main power supply or battery (maximum voltage: 25.2V) to the system.
Video 4.1: ApisQueen X1 Underwater Thruster Wiring Operation. This video demonstrates the step-by-step wiring process for connecting the motor, ESC, UBEC, receiver, and remote control, followed by a basic functional test.
5. Operation
Once the motor system is correctly wired and powered, you can proceed with operation. Always ensure the motor is in a safe environment, preferably submerged in water for testing, to prevent damage and ensure proper cooling.
- Initial Power-Up: After connecting the battery, the thruster should emit a series of beeps (di-di-di sound), indicating that it has passed its self-test and is ready for operation.
- Activate Thruster: Push the joystick on your remote control forward to activate the thruster.
- Control Movement: Push the joystick forward to move the thruster forward. Pull it backward to move backward. Adjust the joystick position to control the speed and direction as needed.
- ESC Splash-Proof Feature: The ESC is designed to be splash-proof. This means it can withstand splashes and brief immersion. Note: It is intended for short-term soaking only, not long-term submersion. Ensure it is dried thoroughly after use.
- Disconnection: When not in use, always disconnect the power source or battery first, then turn off the remote control.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ApisQueen 2828 Brushless Waterproof Motor, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Rinse After Use: After each use, especially in saltwater, thoroughly rinse the motor and any exposed components with fresh water to prevent salt buildup and corrosion.
- Inspect Connections: Regularly check all electrical connections for signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness. Ensure all plugs are securely seated.
- Clean Propeller/Impeller: Inspect the propeller or impeller for any debris (weeds, fishing line, etc.) that may have become entangled. Remove any obstructions carefully to prevent damage to the motor or reduced efficiency.
- Storage: Store the motor in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure it is completely dry before storage.
- Bearing Care: While the motor features stainless steel bearings, periodic inspection for smooth operation is recommended. Avoid running the motor dry for extended periods.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ApisQueen 2828 Brushless Waterproof Motor, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- Motor Not Spinning:
- Check battery charge level and ensure it is properly connected.
- Verify all wiring connections (motor to ESC, ESC to receiver, UBEC to receiver, power supply).
- Ensure the remote control is powered on and properly bound to the receiver.
- Inspect the motor for any physical obstructions preventing rotation.
- Incorrect Rotation Direction:
- If the motor spins in the wrong direction, swap any two of the three motor wires connected to the ESC.
- Intermittent Operation:
- Check for loose connections or damaged wiring.
- Ensure the battery is providing stable power.
- Verify the remote control signal is strong and uninterrupted.
- Unusual Noise or Vibration:
- Immediately power off the system.
- Inspect the propeller/impeller for damage or foreign objects.
- Check motor mounting for secure attachment.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact ApisQueen customer support for further assistance.
