6.1. Jump Starting a Vehicle

Image 6.1: The MAXTOOLS JSL600 is suitable for jump starting a wide range of 12V vehicles, including motorcycles, hatchbacks, sedans, pick-up trucks, RVs, and vans, with a peak power of 3600A.
- Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the parking brake is engaged.
- Connect Clamps:
- Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle's battery.
- Connect the black (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the vehicle's battery or a solid, unpainted metal part of the vehicle's chassis away from the battery.
- Connect to Jump Starter: Insert the jump cable connector into the jump starter's port. Ensure a secure connection.
- Check Indicator Lights: The jump starter's indicator lights will show the connection status. If an error is detected (e.g., reverse polarity), an alarm may sound, and an error light will illuminate. Correct the connection if necessary.
- Start the Vehicle: Once connected correctly, start the vehicle's engine. If the vehicle does not start immediately, wait 30 seconds before trying again. Do not crank for more than 3 seconds per attempt.
- Using BOOST Function (for deeply discharged batteries): If the vehicle battery is completely dead and the jump starter does not detect it, press and hold the "BOOST" button for 3 seconds. The "BOOST" indicator will light up. Attempt to start the vehicle within 30 seconds.
