5. Setup and Installation

This section provides general guidelines for installing your MP5 Car Video Player. Due to variations in vehicle models and wiring, professional installation is highly recommended.

5.1. Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected before starting any electrical work.
  • Verify the installation space in your dashboard matches the product dimensions (refer to Figure 3.1).
  • Identify the vehicle's existing wiring for power, ground, speakers, and antenna.

5.2. Wiring Connections

Connect the provided power cables and adapter cables to the corresponding ports on the MP5 player and your vehicle's wiring harness. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

  • Power (Yellow wire): Connect to constant 12V power.
  • Accessory (Red wire): Connect to switched 12V power (ACC).
  • Ground (Black wire): Connect to a secure chassis ground point.
  • Speaker Wires: Connect to your vehicle's speaker wires, ensuring correct polarity for each speaker (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right).
  • Antenna: Connect the radio antenna cable.

5.3. Reverse Camera Installation

  • Mount the camera securely, typically near the license plate light or trunk handle.
  • Route the camera connection cable from the camera to the MP5 player, connecting the video output to the "Video IN" port on the player.
  • Connect the camera's power wire to your vehicle's reverse light circuit (12V) so it powers on when reverse gear is engaged.
  • Connect the reverse trigger wire from the camera cable to the corresponding reverse trigger input on the MP5 player's wiring harness. This signal tells the player to switch to the camera view.

5.4. Final Installation

  • Carefully slide the MP5 player into the dashboard opening until it clicks into place or is secured with the provided screws/brackets.
  • Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  • Test all functions before reassembling the dashboard trim.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press the power button (usually integrated with the volume knob) to turn the unit on or off.
  • Volume Control: Rotate the volume knob to adjust the audio level.
  • Touch Screen: Navigate menus and select functions by tapping icons on the 5-inch touch screen.

6.3.2. Wired Android Auto

Connect your Android phone to the player's USB port. Android Auto will launch, providing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, music apps, and more. Ensure Android Auto is installed and updated on your phone.

6.3.3. MirrorLink

MirrorLink allows you to mirror your smartphone's screen directly onto the MP5 player's display. Connect your phone via USB and select the MirrorLink option on the player. This feature is compatible with most cell phones.

6.4. Steering Wheel Control Learning

The player supports learning functions from your vehicle's original steering wheel controls, allowing you to operate the unit without taking your hands off the wheel.

6.5. Media Playback (USB/Memory Card)
