Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up your Friedrich ZoneAire Compact Portable Air Conditioner.
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the unit and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
- Placement: Place the unit on a firm, level surface near a window. Ensure there is at least 20 inches (50 cm) of clear space around the unit for proper airflow.
- Window Kit Installation:
- Assemble the window sealing plate kit according to your window type (sliding or casement).
- Secure the window kit in the open window frame.
- Exhaust Hose Connection:
- Attach one end of the exhaust hose to the exhaust outlet on the back of the unit.
- Attach the other end of the exhaust hose to the adapter in the window sealing plate. Ensure connections are secure to prevent air leakage.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords.
Operating Instructions
Your Friedrich ZoneAire Compact offers multiple operating modes for optimal comfort.
Control Panel and Remote Control:
The unit can be operated using the control panel on the top of the unit or the included remote control. Ensure the remote control has batteries installed (not included).
Operating Modes:
- Cool Mode:
Press the "Mode" button until the "Cool" indicator lights up. Use the "Temp Up" and "Temp Down" buttons to set your desired temperature. The unit will cool the room to the set temperature.
- Dehumidify Mode:
Press the "Mode" button until the "Dehumidify" indicator lights up. In this mode, the unit will remove excess moisture from the air. The fan speed is typically fixed in this mode.
- Fan Mode:

Air Filter Cleaning:

- Wash the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting it into the unit. Do not use a dryer or direct sunlight.
Water Drainage:
The unit has a self-evaporative system, but in high humidity conditions, the internal water tank may fill up. When full, the unit will stop operating and display an error code (e.g., "FL").
- Unplug the unit.
- Place a shallow pan or tray under the drainage port at the bottom rear of the unit.
- Remove the drain plug to allow water to flow out.
- Once drained, replace the drain plug securely.
