4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Lens to the Camera

  1. Ensure your camera is turned off.
  2. Remove the rear lens cap from the lens and the body cap from your camera.
  3. Align the white index mark on the lens barrel with the corresponding white index mark on your camera's lens mount.
  4. Insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the lens.

4.2 Attaching the Lens Hood

The included lens hood helps to prevent flare and protect the front element of the lens.

  1. Align the red dot on the lens hood with the red dot on the front of the lens.
  2. Push the hood onto the lens and rotate it clockwise until it locks into place.
  3. To store the hood, reverse it and attach it to the lens in the same manner.

5. Operating the Lens

5.1 Autofocus (AF) and Manual Focus (MF)

Use the AF/MF switch on the lens barrel to select your desired focus mode.

  • AF (Autofocus): The lens will automatically focus when the camera's autofocus system is engaged.
  • MF (Manual Focus): Rotate the focus ring to manually adjust the focus. The LCD screen will display the current focusing distance.

5.2 Using the LCD Screen

The integrated LCD screen provides real-time information about your lens settings.

  • Aperture Display: Shows the current aperture value (e.g., F1.8, F5.6).
  • Focusing Distance: Displays the distance to the subject in meters (m) or feet (ft).
  • Focus Mode: Indicates whether the lens is in AF or MF mode.

5.3 Adjusting Aperture

The lens features an aperture ring for direct control. You can also control the aperture via the camera body.

  • Manual Aperture Control: Rotate the aperture ring to select your desired f-stop.
  • Camera Control: Set the aperture ring to 'A' (Auto) to allow the camera to control the aperture setting.

5.4 Using Function Buttons (Fn1/Fn2)

The Fn1 and Fn2 buttons are customizable. Refer to your camera's manual for instructions on how to assign functions to these buttons.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1 Cleaning the Lens

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to remove dust from the lens surface.
  • For stubborn smudges, apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to a microfiber cloth and gently wipe the lens in a circular motion.
