Installation of the Rulart deadbolt lock requires only a screwdriver. Follow these steps carefully:

3.1 Prepare the Door

  • Ensure your door has the necessary bore holes for a deadbolt. The lock is designed for door thicknesses between 35mm and 50mm (1-3/8" to 2").
  • Verify the backset measurement (distance from the door edge to the center of the bore hole) is either 60mm (2-3/8") or 70mm (2-3/4"). The latch is adjustable to fit both.

3.2 Install the Latch Mechanism

  • Insert the latch mechanism into the edge bore hole of the door.
  • Adjust the latch to the correct backset (60mm or 70mm) by twisting or extending it as needed.
  • Secure the latch plate to the door edge with the provided screws. Ensure the latch bolt faces the correct direction (beveled edge towards the door frame).

3.3 Install the Deadbolt Cylinders

  • Place the exterior cylinder (with the keyhole) through the exterior side of the door, aligning the tailpiece with the slot in the latch mechanism.
  • Place the interior cylinder (also with a keyhole) through the interior side of the door, ensuring its tailpiece also aligns with the latch mechanism.
  • Secure both cylinders together using the long mounting screws provided. Tighten them evenly to prevent misalignment.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your deadbolt lock:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the lock with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based spray lubricant into the keyway. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dirt and dust.
