Controls and Connections

Setup

Powering the Radio

The Studebaker SB2000 can be powered by either AC electricity or batteries.

AC Power (Recommended for Home Use)

1. Ensure the radio is switched OFF.
2. Insert the small end of the AC power adapter into the AC Power Input jack on the back of the radio.
3. Plug the other end of the AC power adapter into a standard 120V/60Hz wall outlet.

Battery Power (For Portable Use)

1. Ensure the radio is switched OFF.
2. Open the battery compartment cover located on the rear of the radio.
3. Insert 4 x 'C' (UM-2) batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Antenna Adjustment

For optimal FM reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully. For AM reception, the radio has a built-in antenna, and adjusting the radio's position may improve signal quality.

Operating Instructions

Turning On/Off and Volume Control

1. To turn the radio ON, rotate the Volume Knob clockwise until you hear a click and the radio powers on.
2. Continue rotating the Volume Knob to adjust the desired listening level.
3. To turn the radio OFF, rotate the Volume Knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the radio powers off.

Tuning to Radio Stations

1. Slide the AM/FM Selector Switch to your desired band (AM or FM).
2. Slowly rotate the Tuning Dial to scan for available stations. The indicator on the dial will move to show the selected frequency.
3. Adjust the radio's position or the telescopic antenna (for FM) for the best reception.

Using the Auxiliary Input

Connect external audio devices to play music through the radio's speaker:

1. Ensure the radio is ON.
2. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the Auxiliary Input Jack on the side of the radio.
3. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device.
4. Start playback on your external device. The audio will now play through the radio's speaker. Adjust volume using the radio's Volume Knob and your external device's volume control.

Using Headphones

For private listening, connect headphones to the Headphone Jack on the side of the radio. The radio's speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish.

Battery Care

If using batteries, remove them if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.

Troubleshooting

• No Power: Check if the AC adapter is securely plugged into both the radio and the wall outlet. If using batteries, ensure they are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
• Poor Radio Reception: Extend the telescopic antenna fully for FM. For AM, try rotating the radio to find a better signal. Move the radio away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
• No Sound from Auxiliary Input: Ensure the audio cable is securely connected to both the radio and the external device. Check the volume levels on both the radio and the external device.
