Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off and Speed Control
The polisher is equipped with a paddle switch and an LED display for speed management.
- To Power On: Plug the polisher into a 120V power outlet. Press and hold the paddle switch to start the motor.
- To Power Off: Release the paddle switch. The lock-on feature can be engaged by pressing the lock button while the paddle switch is depressed, allowing continuous operation without holding the switch. Press the paddle switch again to disengage the lock and turn off the tool.
- Adjusting Speed: Use the '+' and '-' buttons located near the LED display to cycle through the six speed settings, ranging from 2000 to 5200 RPM. The current RPM will be shown on the LED display.
2. Application Techniques and Pad Selection
The WEN AA6158 is a dual-action polisher, meaning the pad simultaneously rotates and oscillates. This action minimizes holograms and swirl marks, providing a superior finish. Always work on a clean, cool surface and in small sections.
- Coarse-Grit Pad: Use with cutting compounds to remove heavy oxidation, scratches, and blemishes. Start with a lower speed and gradually increase as needed.
- Medium-Grit Pad: Ideal for applying waxes, sealants, and polishes. Use moderate speed settings for even product distribution and light correction.
- Fine-Grit Pad: Designed for finishing polishes and sensitive surfaces to achieve a high-gloss, streak-free finish. Use lower speeds and light pressure.
Apply a small amount of product directly to the pad or the work surface. Spread the product evenly over a small area before turning on the polisher. Maintain consistent, light pressure and move the polisher in overlapping passes. Avoid excessive pressure, which can generate heat and reduce effectiveness.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your polisher. Always unplug the tool before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the polisher body with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Pad Care: Clean foam pads thoroughly after each use. Rinse them with water and a mild detergent, then allow them to air dry completely before storage. Proper pad care prevents product buildup and extends pad life.
- Carbon Brush Service: The LED display may indicate a "BRUSH SERVICE" reminder. This indicates that the carbon brushes may need inspection or replacement. Refer to the detailed service instructions in the full product manual or contact WEN customer support for assistance.
- Storage: Store the polisher in a clean, dry place, out of reach of children.
