Figure 3: Inside the battery compartment of the Raddy R3 Wireless Remote Sensor, revealing slots for two AA batteries, a C/F switch, and a channel selector (1, 2, 3).
Key Components:
- LCD Display: Shows current temperature and humidity readings.
- Battery Compartment: Located on the back, holds 2 AA batteries.
- °C/°F Switch: Inside the battery compartment, selects temperature unit.
- Channel Selector (1, 2, 3): Inside the battery compartment, sets the transmission channel.
- TX Button: Inside the battery compartment, for manual transmission of data.
- Wall Mount Hole: For easy installation on a wall.
Setup Instructions
1. Battery Installation
- Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor.
- Insert two (2) AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Before closing the cover, set the desired temperature unit (°C or °F) using the switch and select a transmission channel (1, 2, or 3). Ensure the channel matches the one selected on your main weather station unit.
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Pairing with Weather Station
After installing batteries, the sensor will automatically attempt to transmit data. Ensure your compatible Raddy weather station (WF-55C PRO, DT6, WM6) is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to your weather station's manual for specific pairing instructions). The sensor should connect within a few minutes. If not, press the "TX" button inside the battery compartment to manually send a signal.
3. Sensor Placement Guidelines
Proper placement is crucial for accurate readings and optimal wireless transmission.

Figure 4: Visual guide for optimal Raddy R3 sensor placement. It illustrates that the sensor should stand upright, be covered by shade with fresh air, be far from interfering sources, and placed at least 1.2 meters from the ground. Incorrect placements shown include laying it down, exposing it to direct sunlight or rain, placing it near metal, or too close to the ground.
- Orientation: Always mount the sensor upright to allow for proper drainage and airflow.
- Protection from Elements: Place the sensor in a shaded area that allows for good air circulation. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause artificially high temperature readings, and direct exposure to rain or snow.
- Interference: Keep the sensor away from large metal objects, electronic devices, and other sources of electromagnetic interference that could disrupt wireless communication.
- Height: For outdoor use, mount the sensor at least 1.2 meters (approximately 4 feet) above the ground to ensure accurate ambient temperature and humidity readings, away from ground-level heat or cold sources.
- Range: Ensure the sensor is within the wireless transmission range of your main weather station unit. Obstacles like thick walls can reduce this range.
Operation
Once properly set up and paired, the Raddy R3 sensor will continuously monitor and transmit temperature and humidity data to your main weather station. The sensor's small LCD display will show its current readings.
- Automatic Transmission: The sensor automatically sends data at regular intervals (typically every 60 seconds).
- Manual Transmission: If you need to force an immediate data transmission, open the battery compartment and press the "TX" button.
- Temperature Unit: The temperature unit (°C or °F) displayed on the sensor and transmitted to the weather station is controlled by the switch inside the battery compartment.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator on your weather station or the sensor's display shows low power, replace both AA batteries with new ones. Always replace both batteries at the same time.
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no moisture enters the battery compartment or sensor openings.
- Environmental Protection: Regularly check the sensor's placement to ensure it remains protected from direct weather elements and interference sources.
Troubleshooting
No Data or Intermittent Readings:
- Check Batteries: Ensure batteries are fresh and inserted with correct polarity.
- Channel Match: Verify that the sensor's channel (1, 2, or 3) matches the channel selected on your main weather station unit.
- Range: Move the sensor closer to the main weather station to rule out range issues.
- Interference: Relocate the sensor away from potential sources of interference (e.g., large metal objects, other electronic devices).
- Reset: Remove batteries from both the sensor and the main weather station for a few minutes, then reinsert them, ensuring the sensor is powered on first.
Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings:
- Placement: Ensure the sensor is not in direct sunlight, near heat sources (e.g., vents, appliances), or in an area with poor air circulation. Refer to the "Sensor Placement Guidelines" section.
- Calibration: Some weather stations allow for manual calibration. Refer to your main weather station's manual for calibration options.
