  • Standby Button (Red): Turns the unit on/off (standby mode).

Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  • Place the main unit on a stable, flat surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
  • Position the speakers on either side of the main unit, ensuring they are at an equal distance for optimal stereo sound.

2. Speaker Connection

Connect the speaker wires from the main unit to the corresponding terminals on the back of each speaker. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for optimal sound quality.

3. Power Connection

Insert the power cord into the AC IN socket on the rear of the main unit, then plug the other end into a standard AC wall outlet (110V-240V, 50/60Hz).

4. Antenna Connection (FM)

The system features a built-in FM antenna. For improved reception, extend the antenna fully and adjust its position.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off (Standby): Press the Standby button on the front panel or remote control to switch the unit between active and standby modes.
  • Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Volume Knob on the front panel or use the VOL+ / VOL- buttons on the remote control.
  • Mute Function: Press the Mute button on the remote control to temporarily silence the audio. Press again to restore sound.
  • Source Selection: Press the Source button on the front panel repeatedly, or use the dedicated source buttons (CD, USB, BT, AUX, FM) on the remote control to select the desired input.

2. CD Playback

  1. Press the CD button on the remote or Source button on the unit to select CD mode.
  2. Press the Open/Close button to open the CD tray.
  3. Place a CD (CD-R/RW compatible) with the label side facing up into the tray.
  4. Press the Open/Close button again to close the tray. The system will automatically begin playback.
  5. Use the TUN+ / TUN- buttons on the remote or front panel to skip tracks.
  6. Press Pause to pause playback, and press again to resume.
  7. Press Stop to stop playback.

3. Bluetooth Pairing and Playback

  1. Press the BT button on the remote or Source button on the unit to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "BT" and flash, indicating it's ready for pairing.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) and search for available devices.
  3. Select "PHILCO PES3005-BK" from the list of devices. Once connected, the "BT" indicator on the display will stop flashing.
  4. You can now play audio from your Bluetooth device through the stereo system. Use your device or the system's controls for playback (play/pause, skip track).

4. FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the FM button on the remote or Source button on the unit to select FM radio mode.
  2. Auto Scan: Press and hold the Scan button (often combined with Pause/Pair) on the front panel or remote. The system will automatically scan and store available stations.
  3. Manual Tuning: Press the TUN+ / TUN- buttons briefly to fine-tune the frequency.
  4. Preset Stations: After scanning, use the MEM+ / MEM- buttons on the remote to navigate through stored preset stations.
  5. Storing Presets Manually:
    1. Tune to the desired station.
    2. Press the MEM/PROG/CLK Set button. The display will show a preset number.
    3. Use TUN+ / TUN- to select the desired preset number.
    4. Press MEM/PROG/CLK Set again to confirm and store the station.

5. USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB Port on the front panel.
  2. Press the USB button on the remote or Source button on the unit to select USB mode. The system will automatically detect and begin playing compatible audio files (e.g., MP3).
  3. Use the TUN+ / TUN- buttons to skip tracks.
  4. Use the Folder+/10+ and Folder-/10- buttons to navigate between folders or skip tracks by 10.
  5. Press Pause to pause playback, and press again to resume.
  6. Press Stop to stop playback.

6. AUX Input

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX In Jack on the front panel using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
  2. Press the AUX button on the remote or Source button on the unit to select AUX mode.
  3. Play audio from your connected external device. Control playback directly from the external device.

7. Clock Setting

  1. In standby mode, press and hold the MEM/PROG/CLK Set button until the hour digits flash.
  2. Use the TUN+ / TUN- buttons to adjust the hour.
  3. Press MEM/PROG/CLK Set again to confirm the hour, and the minute digits will flash.
  4. Use the TUN+ / TUN- buttons to adjust the minute.
  5. Press MEM/PROG/CLK Set one more time to save the time.

8. Alarm Setting

Note: While the product description mentions an alarm clock, some user reviews indicate this feature may not be intuitive or present. Please refer to the specific instructions in your physical manual for detailed alarm setup. Generally, alarm settings are accessed via the CLK Set button or a dedicated Alarm button.

  1. In standby mode, press the MEM/PROG/CLK Set button once (do not hold). The alarm icon or "AL" might appear.
  2. Use TUN+ / TUN- to set the alarm hour, then press MEM/PROG/CLK Set.
  3. Use TUN+ / TUN- to set the alarm minute, then press MEM/PROG/CLK Set.
  4. You may be prompted to select the alarm source (e.g., FM, CD, Buzzer). Use TUN+ / TUN- to choose and MEM/PROG/CLK Set to confirm.
  5. The alarm icon should appear on the display, indicating it is set.

9. Bass and Treble Control

Use the dedicated Bass Knob and Treble Knob on the front panel to adjust the low and high frequencies of the audio output to your preference.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • CD Lens Care: Avoid touching the CD lens. If the lens is dirty, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner.
  • Storage: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, unplug it from the power outlet and store it in a cool, dry place.
