2. Setup and Fit

Proper fit is crucial for both comfort and safety. Follow these steps to ensure your Sena C1 helmet fits correctly.

2.1. Measuring Your Head

  1. Measure Circumference: Use a flexible tape measure to find the circumference of your head. Position the tape roughly 1 inch (2.5 cm) above your eyebrows and at the top of your ears.
  2. Snug Fit: Pull the tape measure snugly, ensuring it is level from front to back.
  3. Record Measurement: Note the number where the tape measure overlaps.
  4. Compare to Sizing Chart: Refer to the sizing chart below to determine your recommended helmet size.

2.2. Adjusting the Helmet

  1. Open Dial Adjustment: Before placing the helmet on your head, open the dial adjustment at the back to its widest setting. This ensures the helmet shell can fit down properly.
  2. Position Helmet: Place the helmet on your head. It should feel snug but comfortable, sitting level (not too far forward or back).
  3. Tighten Dial: Slowly tighten the dial adjustment at the back until the helmet feels secure. It should not be overly tight, just enough to prevent excessive movement.
  4. Buckle Chin Strap: Fasten the chin strap. Ensure it is loose enough to allow you to move your mouth, but tight enough that you can only fit about three fingers between your chin and the strap.
  5. Adjust Side Straps: Adjust the buckles on the side straps so they lie flat against your head and around your ears. The straps should not touch your ears for maximum comfort. You may need to re-adjust the chin strap after positioning the side buckles.

2.3. Checking the Fit

Once adjusted, perform these checks to confirm a secure fit:

  • Shake Head: Shake your head side-to-side and front-to-back. The helmet should remain in place and not slip.
  • Pressure Check: If you feel excessive pressure, slightly loosen the dial adjustment. Ensure it's not so loose that the helmet shifts when you move your head.
