NVX XFLOC2

NVX XFLOC2 2-Channel Adjustable Line Output Converter

User Manual

1. Introduction and Overview

The NVX XFLOC2 is a 2-channel adjustable line output converter designed to integrate aftermarket amplifiers with factory car audio systems that lack dedicated RCA outputs. This device converts high-level (speaker-level) audio signals from your vehicle's factory head unit into low-level RCA signals, suitable for amplifier input. It also features a built-in digital noise filter and a DC amplifier turn-on trigger, simplifying the installation process and ensuring clean audio reproduction.

2. Product Features

  • 2-channel premium adjustable line output converter.
  • Integrated Digital Noise Filter and Line Driver for enhanced audio quality.
  • 6:1 step-down ratio with adjustable output levels.
  • Supports a maximum input of 80W total (40W per channel).
  • Features a DC amplifier turn-on trigger, eliminating the need for a separate remote wire from the head unit.

3. Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before installation. Improper installation can result in damage to the product, vehicle, or personal injury. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional. Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before beginning any electrical work. Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.

4. Setup and Installation

The NVX XFLOC2 requires careful wiring to integrate correctly into your vehicle's audio system. Follow these steps for proper installation:

4.1 Wiring Connections

  1. High-Level Input (Speaker Wires): Connect the speaker wires from your factory head unit or factory amplifier to the corresponding input wires on the XFLOC2. Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) for each channel (Left and Right). Refer to your vehicle's wiring diagram for speaker wire identification.
    • Red/Black: Right Rear Speaker (+)
    • White/Black: Right Rear Speaker (-)
    • Green/Black: Left Rear Speaker (+)
    • Gray/Black: Left Rear Speaker (-)
  2. Power and Ground: Connect the power and ground wires.
    • Yellow: 12V Constant Power. Connect this to a constant 12V power source.
    • Black: Ground. Connect this to a solid chassis ground point in the vehicle.
  3. Remote Turn-On Output: The XFLOC2 provides a remote turn-on signal for your amplifier.
    • Blue: Remote Output. Connect this wire to the remote turn-on input of your aftermarket amplifier. The XFLOC2 generates this signal when it detects an audio input.
  4. Low-Level Output (RCA): Connect the RCA outputs from the XFLOC2 to the RCA inputs of your aftermarket amplifier. Ensure Left and Right channels are connected correctly.

4.2 Mounting

Mount the XFLOC2 in a secure location away from excessive heat or moisture. Ensure that the unit is not exposed to direct sunlight or moving parts. Use screws or zip ties to secure the unit firmly.

5. Operation and Adjustment

Once installed, the XFLOC2 requires minimal operation. The primary adjustment is setting the output level to match your amplifier's input sensitivity.

Figure 3: Top view of the NVX XFLOC2, highlighting the Left (L) and Right (R) adjustment potentiometers.

5.1 Output Level Adjustment

The XFLOC2 features two small potentiometers labeled 'L' (Left) and 'R' (Right) on its top surface. These allow you to adjust the output level of the RCA signals. Use a small screwdriver to turn these potentiometers. Start with the levels set to minimum (fully counter-clockwise). Play a known good audio track through your system and slowly increase the XFLOC2's output levels until you achieve a clean, undistorted signal from your amplifier. Avoid setting the levels too high, as this can introduce distortion.

5.2 Remote Turn-On Trigger

The 'Trigger Input' LED on the unit indicates when an audio signal is detected, activating the remote turn-on output. This feature automatically turns on your amplifier when the factory head unit is active and turns it off when the head unit is off, ensuring efficient power management.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound:
    • Check all wiring connections, especially power, ground, and speaker inputs.
    • Verify that the amplifier is receiving a remote turn-on signal (check the blue wire connection).
    • Ensure the XFLOC2's output levels are not set to minimum.
    • Confirm the amplifier is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the XFLOC2's output levels.
    • Check for proper grounding of the XFLOC2 and the amplifier.
    • Ensure speaker input wires are not reversed in polarity.
  • Amplifier Not Turning On:
    • Verify the XFLOC2 is receiving power and ground.
    • Ensure the factory head unit is producing an audio signal.
    • Check the connection of the blue remote output wire to the amplifier.
