Setup Instructions
The Ortofon 2M Bronze is pre-mounted on an SH-4 headshell, simplifying the installation process. Follow these steps to integrate it with your turntable:
- Attach Headshell to Tonearm: Carefully insert the SH-4 headshell into the tonearm collar. Rotate the locking ring clockwise until it is finger-tight. Ensure the headshell is securely fastened and does not wobble.
- Connect Tonearm Wires: The headshell comes with pre-attached wires. Ensure these are correctly connected to the corresponding pins on the cartridge. The standard color code is:
- Red: Right channel signal (R+)
- Green: Right channel ground (R-)
- White: Left channel signal (L+)
- Blue: Left channel ground (L-)
- Set Tracking Force: The recommended tracking force for the Ortofon 2M Bronze is 1.5 grams. Use a stylus force gauge (included) to accurately set this. Refer to your turntable's manual for specific instructions on adjusting tracking force.
- Adjust Anti-Skate: Set the anti-skate control on your tonearm to match the tracking force (e.g., 1.5 on the anti-skate dial for 1.5 grams tracking force). This prevents the stylus from being pulled towards the center or outer edge of the record.
- Check Alignment: The SH-4 headshell is designed for correct Baerwald alignment on most S-shaped tonearms. However, it is advisable to verify alignment using a protractor if you have one, especially if you experience tracking issues.

Operating Instructions
Once the cartridge is properly installed and adjusted, you can begin playing records:
- Place Record: Carefully place a vinyl record on the turntable platter.
- Clean Record: Use a record brush to gently remove dust and debris from the record surface before each play.
- Lower Stylus: Use the tonearm lift lever to gently lower the stylus onto the lead-in groove of the record. Avoid dropping the tonearm manually, as this can damage the stylus or record.
- Adjust Volume: Start with a low volume setting on your amplifier and gradually increase it to your desired listening level.
- End of Play: At the end of the record, use the tonearm lift lever to raise the stylus and return the tonearm to its rest.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your cartridge and stylus.
- Stylus Cleaning: Gently brush the stylus from back to front using the included stylus brush. Never brush from front to back, as this can damage the cantilever. Clean the stylus before or after each play.
- Cartridge Body Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the cartridge body. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
- Stylus Replacement: The 2M Bronze stylus is interchangeable. If the stylus becomes worn or damaged, it can be replaced with a new Ortofon 2M Bronze stylus or upgraded to a higher 2M series stylus (e.g., 2M Black). To replace, gently pull the old stylus assembly forward and off the cartridge body, then carefully push the new stylus assembly onto the cartridge body until it clicks into place.
