2. Safety Information

Always adhere to safety precautions when using electrical testing equipment. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, injury, or damage to the meter or equipment under test.

  • Do not exceed the maximum input values specified for each measurement range.
  • Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • Before measuring resistance, capacitance, or continuity, ensure the circuit is de-energized and all capacitors are discharged.
  • Inspect test leads for damage before each use. Do not use if insulation is compromised.
  • Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged or is not functioning properly.
  • Ensure the battery cover is securely closed before operation.
  • The device is designed with double insulation protection and meets CAT III 600V safety standards.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The BSIDE A5 requires two 1.5V AAA batteries (not included).

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the multimeter.
  2. Use the provided screwdriver to loosen the screw on the battery cover.
  3. Remove the battery cover.
  4. Insert two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw securely.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads

For most measurements, connect the test leads as follows:

  • Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) input jack.
  • Insert the red test lead into the VΩHzmA input jack for voltage, resistance, frequency, capacitance, diode, continuity, and current measurements.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power button (Power button icon) to turn the multimeter on or off. The device will automatically power off after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

6.2 Mode Selection

The BSIDE A5 features an intelligent Auto mode that automatically identifies and measures AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity. For other functions, press the SEL button (SEL button icon) to cycle through available modes.

6.5 Resistance Measurement

In Auto mode, the meter will automatically measure resistance. Connect the test leads across the component to be measured. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.

6.6 Capacitance Measurement

Select the capacitance mode using the SEL button. Important: Before measuring capacitance, always discharge the capacitor first to prevent damage to the meter or the component.

6.7 Frequency Measurement

Select the frequency mode. Connect the test leads to the signal source. The meter measures frequencies from 0-9999Hz (900mVrms-20Vrms).

6.8 Temperature Measurement

Plug the K-type thermocouple into the input jacks, observing polarity. Select the temperature mode. The meter can measure temperatures from 0-1000℃ (32-1832℉).

6.9 Diode Test

Select the diode test mode. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode of the diode. The meter measures diodes within 3V.

6.10 Continuity Test

In Auto mode, the meter will automatically perform a continuity test. If the resistance is less than 50Ω, the beeper will sound, indicating continuity.

6.11 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

Press the V~Alert button (V~Alert button icon) to activate NCV mode. Move the top of the multimeter near a live AC voltage source. The display will show 'Lo' for low sensitivity or 'HI' for high sensitivity, and the beeper will sound with increasing frequency as the voltage strength increases.

6.12 Live Wire Check

This function helps identify live wires. Refer to the on-screen indicators and audible alerts for live wire detection.

6.13 VFC Mode

The VFC (Variable Frequency Control) mode is designed for measuring AC voltage with variable frequency drives. Select this mode using the SEL button when testing such circuits.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is off and disconnected from any circuits before cleaning.

7.2 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 5.1.

7.3 Storage

If the meter is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

If the multimeter is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions:

  • No display or weak display: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected, the correct measurement mode is selected, and the circuit is within the meter's specified range.
  • No continuity beep: Verify the circuit resistance is below 50Ω. Check test leads for damage.
  • Meter does not respond: Turn the meter off and then on again. If the issue persists, remove and reinsert batteries.

For persistent issues, contact customer support.
