Setup
Setting Your Combination
Your Defiant Portable Drawer Safe comes with a factory preset combination, typically 0-0-0. You can change this combination to a personal one.
- Open the safe using the current combination (factory preset 0-0-0).
- Locate the reset button or lever on the inside of the safe, usually near the locking mechanism.
- While the safe is open, push the reset button/lever to the "SET" position (or rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, depending on the model).
- With the button/lever in the "SET" position, dial your desired new 3-digit combination. Choose a memorable but secure combination.
- Return the reset button/lever to its original position.
- Close the safe and scramble the dials. Test your new combination to ensure it opens the safe correctly before storing valuables.
Important: Remember your new combination. There is no master key or override for the combination lock. If you forget your combination, the safe cannot be opened without professional assistance or destructive entry.
Attaching the Security Cable
The included steel cable allows you to secure the safe to a fixed object, preventing unauthorized removal.
- Locate the cable attachment point on the safe, typically a slot or loop on the side or back.
- Thread the loop end of the steel cable through the attachment point on the safe.
- Pass the other end of the cable (with the larger stopper) through the loop you just threaded.
- Secure the cable around a sturdy, immovable object (e.g., a car seat frame, a desk leg, a bed frame). Ensure the object is robust enough to resist tampering.
- Pull the cable tight to minimize slack.
