4.2 Reactive Lighting Mode

In Reactive Lighting mode, a sensor analyzes the ambient light and automatically adjusts the brightness and beam pattern. This optimizes battery life and reduces the need for manual adjustments. This mode is ideal for activities where light conditions change frequently.

4.3 Standard Lighting Mode

Standard Lighting mode provides a constant light output at selected brightness levels (Low, Medium, High). This mode is suitable for situations where consistent illumination is preferred.

4.4 Red Lighting

To activate the red light, cycle through the white light modes until the red light appears. Red light is useful for preserving night vision and for discreet lighting that does not disturb others.

5. Charging and Battery

The PETZL Swift RL uses a 2350 mAh Lithium-ion battery. To charge, use the provided USB-C cable. A full charge typically takes several hours. The battery indicator will provide feedback on the charge level.

  • Battery Life: Varies significantly with the chosen lighting mode and brightness level. Reactive Lighting mode generally extends battery life.
  • Storage: For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% and store in a cool, dry place. Recharge every 6 months to maintain battery health.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Clean the headlamp with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Ensure the USB-C port cover is securely closed to prevent water ingress.

6.2 Storage

Store the headlamp in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing with discharged batteries.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Headlamp not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. Check for any debris in the USB-C port preventing a proper connection during charging.
  • Light output is dim: The battery may be low. Recharge the headlamp. In Reactive Lighting mode, ensure the sensor is not obstructed.
  • Headlamp not charging: Verify the USB-C cable and power source are functional. Ensure the cable is fully inserted into the port.
  • Headband slipping: Adjust the buckle to achieve a tighter fit.
