3. Setup Guide
3.1 Charging the Battery
- Connect the provided charger to a suitable power outlet.
- Connect the truck's battery to the charger. Ensure correct polarity.
- Allow the battery to charge fully. Refer to the charger's indicator lights for charging status. Do not leave charging batteries unattended.
- Once charged, disconnect the battery from the charger.
3.2 Installing Batteries in the Remote Controller
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the FlySky ST8 remote controller.
- Insert the required batteries (typically AA, refer to remote manual for exact type and quantity) ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment securely.
3.3 Initial Connection and Binding
The truck and remote controller are typically pre-bound from the factory. If re-binding is necessary, follow the instructions provided with the FlySky ST8 remote controller. Generally, this involves:
- Ensure both the truck and remote controller are powered off.
- Activate the binding mode on the receiver (inside the truck) and then on the remote controller.
- Once successfully bound, the indicator lights on both devices will confirm the connection.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Off
- To Power On: First, turn on the remote controller. Then, connect the battery to the truck and turn on the truck's power switch.
- To Power Off: First, turn off the truck's power switch and disconnect the battery. Then, turn off the remote controller.
4.2 Basic Driving Controls (FlySky ST8)
Familiarize yourself with the remote controller's sticks and switches. The primary controls are typically:
- Left Stick (Throttle): Push forward for forward movement, pull back for reverse.
- Right Stick (Steering): Push left to steer left, push right to steer right.
- Trim Adjustments: Use the trim buttons to fine-tune steering and throttle to ensure the truck drives straight when sticks are centered.
4.3 Hydraulic Dump Bed Operation
The K960 features a functional hydraulic dump bed. The controls for the dump bed are typically assigned to specific switches or auxiliary channels on your FlySky ST8 remote controller. Refer to your remote's manual for exact switch assignments.
- Raising the Dump Bed: Activate the assigned switch/lever to engage the hydraulic pump and raise the dump bed.
- Lowering the Dump Bed: Activate the assigned switch/lever to lower the dump bed.
- Operate the dump bed smoothly. Avoid sudden movements or overloading.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- After each use, especially in dusty or dirty conditions, clean the truck with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Avoid using water directly on electronic components. If necessary, use a damp cloth and ensure components are completely dry before next use.
5.2 Lubrication
- Regularly inspect moving parts, such as the articulation joint, axles, and hydraulic cylinders, for smooth operation.
- Apply a small amount of appropriate lubricant (e.g., silicone grease for plastic gears, light machine oil for metal joints) as needed. Avoid over-lubrication.
5.3 Battery Care and Storage
- Always disconnect the battery from the truck when not in use.
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- For long-term storage, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
5.4 General Inspection
- Check all screws and fasteners for tightness.
- Inspect tires for wear or damage.
- Ensure all cables and wires are securely connected and free from damage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Truck does not power on | Battery not charged or connected; Power switch off; Remote not on. | Charge and connect battery; Ensure truck and remote power switches are on. |
| No response from remote | Remote batteries low/dead; Not bound; Interference. | Replace remote batteries; Re-bind remote and receiver; Operate in a clear area. |
| Hydraulic system not working or leaking | Low hydraulic fluid; Air in system; Damaged hose/seal; Pump issue. | Check hydraulic fluid level; Inspect for visible leaks or damage to hoses/cylinders. If a leak is detected, contact support. Do not attempt to repair complex hydraulic components without expertise. |
| Truck drives erratically | Loose connections; Steering trim incorrect; Damaged servo. | Check all wiring; Adjust steering trim on remote; Inspect steering servo for damage. |
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
